  • JKLF organizes ‘Free Yasin Malik’campaign in UK

    Srinagar, July 17: The ‘Free Yasin Malik’ and ‘Remove ban on JKLF’ campaign launched by Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) continues in various parts of the world, with leaders and activists expediting their campaign in UK and Europe from last few days, the party said on Wednesday.

    A JKLF spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS said, “A JKLF high level delegation yesterday held a meeting with the British foreign office (FCO) and Chairperson UK All Parties Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPKG) in London. JKLF leaders and activists held a peaceful protest demonstration outside Indian high commission in Brussels Belgium in this regard.”

    He said that JKLF team has also launched a minibus campaign with photographs of incarcerated chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, throughout London and other cities of UK.

    Continuing with the campaign, JKLF diplomatic bureau led by its head Professor Raja Zafar Khan on Tuesday held a long meeting with British foreign and commonwealth office at London, the spokesperson said, adding that JKLF leaders Liaqat A Lone, General Secretary JKLF UK Zone, and senior leader Mehmood Hussain were also part of this delegation.

    The delegation apprised FCO with the ground situation in Jammu Kashmir and “unilateral use of violent aggression” by Indian government against the people of Kashmir, he said.

    Emphasizing on the need of immediate release of JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and lifting the ban from JKLF, delegation asked FCO to play its role for ensuring a space on political activities and end to “human rights abuses” in Jammu Kashmir.

    The same JKLF delegation also held a fruitful meeting with the Chairperson All Party Parliamentary Groups on Kashmir (APPKG) Debbie Abrahams and apprised her about the situation in Kashmir and asked the parliamentary group to use its good-offices to ensure an early release of Yasin Malik and lifting of “unlawful” ban on JKLF.

    Meanwhile, a peaceful protest was held outside Indian high commission in Brussels Belgium, the spokesperson said, adding that JKLF leaders asked the international community to safeguard democratic and human rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir.

    Meanwhile, JKLF has expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the demise of the wife of renowned Kashmiri poet Rahman Rahi.

    JKLF prayed for heavenly abode of the deceased and forbearance to the bereaved family. (GNS)

  • AIIMS At Awantipora Likely To Be Completed By Jan 2025: Govt

    Srinagar, July 16: The two AIIMS, being set up at Awantipora in south Kashmir and Vijaypur in the Jammu province under the Prime Minister’s developmental package for the state are expected to be completed by January 2023 and 2025 respectively.

    Respondning to a question in Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State in the ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that AIIMS at Vijaypur is coming up at an approved outlay of Rs. 1661 Crores and target date for completion of project is January 2023.

    He, according to GNS, said that the AIIMS, with an approved outlay of Rs.1828 crores is expected to be completed on January 2025.

    He said 21 new AIIMS were approved by the Union Government in various parts of the country. Of these, he said six (6) new AIIMS in Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Jodhpur (Rajasthan) and Rishikesh (Uttaranchal) are already functional

    South Kashmir is especially deficient in specialized medical facilities, and patients have to undertake a journey of up to two to three hours to reach Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, for advanced treatment of serious ailments. The coming up of AIIMS in the vicinity will improve the situation, officials underlined.

    According to the official, 1886 kanals and 5 marals (235.75 acres) at Awantipora and 1954 kanals and 6 marlas (244.25 acres) at Vijaypur stand transferred and handed over to the central public works department which is the executing agency for these projects.

    In January this year, the state’s administrative council sanctioned Rs 87 crore for removing hurdles in the way of building two AIIMS. The J&K government has undertaken to ensure hassle-free access to both sites by paying for land acquisition for development of roadway or for any other purpose for realising the premier medical institutes. However, land acquisition and removal of other bottlenecks has been a main hurdle for the last couple of years. (GNS)

    According to Sanjeev Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, the militant has been identified as Basir Ahamad, carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh.

    SRINAGAR, JULY 15 : The pictures of a Nowgam youth where he can be seen holding an AK-47 and wearing an camouflage vest which has been making rounds on social media since today morning is fake and has been edited by some miscreants.

    While talking to Press Trust of Kashmir, the youth said that he was called upon by some friends who told him about the picture. “I received the picture from my friends on WhatsApp at around 12:00 am last night after which Ingot completely shocked.”

    He further said that some people are trying to defame his image and wants strict action against those who are involved in it. “Some people are trying to defame my image and want to spoil my life. I have registered a complaint in Police Station Nowgam in this regard and I want strict action those involved in it.”

    The picture is originally of slain militant Shoaib urf Mursi who was killed in an encounter with security forces few months ago and has now been photo shopped.

    Moreover, the youth has requested those who have shared his picture to delete and asked to not further share it. (PTK)

    After leading the England men’s team to their maiden World Cup glory, skipper Eoin Morgan said that “we had Allah with us” and also mentioned that New Zealand had a better outing as compared to the hosts.

    Empathising with the Kiwis, who lost the match on the basis of boundaries after both the regulation 50 overs and the Super Over ended in ties on Sunday.

    Morgan on New Zealand’s campaign: “They’ve been actually through a better tournament than we have. The fact a trophy is sitting here is, you know — like I mentioned, we got the rub of the green today,” Morgan said during the post-match conference. He added, “New Zealand, throughout the group stages, were absolutely outstanding, very consistent and in the semifinal were very ruthless in playing against India, India are an extremely strong team.”

    Morgan on becoming the first captain to lead England men to World Cup glory: “I hope it (life) hasn’t changed that much. I enjoy my life. I lead quite a quiet one, so I hope it hasn’t changed too much. I would love it to change for everybody else who wants it to change, but I enjoy my life.”

I think the big question I will have to answer is will I be in the team in four years, will I be good enough? These guys are improving very quickly. Will I be able to keep up with them.”

    On being asked if he wants a similar sculpture: “Not at all. There’s no Mount Rushmore. Primrose Hill, that’s about it.”

    Concluding with an emotional tribute, Morgan said: “They are the best, and they do it in a fashion that you’d have no qualms in turning around to your kid and saying, ‘Please idolise these guys, they are very admirable.’ They are.”

    A South Carolina police officer is being hailed a hero after his quick-thinking saved the life of a 12-day-old baby. Deputy W Kimbro with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office pulled a car over for speeding on June 11, according to a Facebook post by the police department.
    After she was pulled over, a woman inside the car explained that her baby had stopped breathing and she was rushing her to the hospital.

    “The mother told the Deputy the baby stopped breathing after drinking a bottle,” said the police department, adding that the deputy officer realised he had to act immediately to save the baby’s life.

    Deputy Kimbro took the baby’s limp and cyanotic body and performed lifesaving first aid. As a result, he was able to get the baby to breathe again until EMS could arrive.”

    Footage released on Thursday shows Deputy Kimbro massaging the baby and inserting a finger in her mouth to open her airway. “As long as she’s crying like that she’s breathing,” he can be heard saying. He continued performing first aid until medics arrived at the scene and took over.

    A video of the incident, shared on Facebook, has gone viral with over 2,000 ‘shares’ and hundreds of comments.

    “Because of Deputy Kimbro’s steadfast, professional and heroic response, the 12-day old baby was able to live,” said Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, applauding their officer.

    “Thank you for your services and heroic act in saving this baby life!” wrote one person in the comments section. “I am in tears! Thank God for the officer who handled this so compassionately and professionally!” said another.

    The baby was transported to a local hospital, reports CNN, and released after she was better. Deputy Kimbro has been awarded a medal for saving her life.

  • Significant drop in stone throwing incidents: MHA.

    Stone pelting incidents in Jammu and Kashmir have declined significantly from 2,600 in 2016 to barely a few dozen in the first half of 2019, officials said Sunday.

    As per the report, the arrests involved in stone pelting incidents also have come down from over 10,500 to just about a hundred.

    The Home Ministry statistics say that there were 2,653 incidents of stone pelting in 2016 for which 10,571 miscreants were arrested by police.

    However, among the arrested just 276 were sent to jail and others were let off with warnings.

    The killing of militant commander Burhan Wani in 2016 saw a long turmoil in Kashmir, a Home Ministry official said, there were 1,412 incidents of stone pelting in 2017 in which 2,838 trouble-makers were arrested and 63 of them were sent to jail, he said.

    In 2018, there were 1,458 incidents of stone pelting in which 3,797 miscreants were arrested and 65 of them were sent to jail, as per the statistics.

    As per the official record, in the first six months of 2019, there were around 40 incidents of stone pelting in which about a hundred miscreants were detained.

    Reports also suggest that there has been a marked improvement in the security scenario in the valley ever since the imposition of Governor’s rule on June 19, 2018, when the BJP withdrew support to Peoples Democratic Party.

    The suspects were intercepted and searched thoroughly.During search Contraband, 50 gms charas and one gm heroin was recovered from their possession. The contraband was seized on spot and all the accused.

    In this connection Case FIR No.106/19 U/S 8/20,21,29 NDPS stands registered in Police Station Safakadal and investigation taken up.

    This effort is hugely hailed by the general masses. Police has appealed the common citizens to share all information related to drug abuse, so that curative steps can be initiated.
