  • Salman Khan replaces Atif Aslam after Pulwama attack

    SRINAGAR: After the Pulwama attack, all Indian Cine Workers Association announced a total ban on Pakistani artists and actors from working in India.

    According to Pinkvilla, the recent news that has now come in is that Salman Khan has asked his production house Salman Khan Films to replace Atif Aslam song from Notebook. The re-recording of the song will be done in a day or two.

    The AICWA letter reads, “All Indian Cine Workers Association strongly condemns the militant attack on our soldiers at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir.”

    “We’re officially announcing a total ban on Pakistani actors and artists working in film industry. Still, if any organization insist on working with Pakistani artists will be banned by AICWA and strong action will be taken against them,” read the letter, signed by AICWA General Secretary, Ronak Suresh Jain.

    Talking about Notebook, Salman Khan has recently shared the first poster of the Nitin Kakkar directorial Notebook which will star Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl. Director Nitin Kakkar will be launching the two newcomers Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl in his upcoming film Notebook. Most of the film’s scenes are being shot extensively in Kashmir. According to the director, the storyline of the film required a picturesque backdrop due to which the film has been shot in Kashmir.

  • Indian fans demand De Villiers Russel ban from IPL

    SRINAGAR: The Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick-off next month just after the end of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

    Since a long time, India and Pakistan don’t have a good relationship with each other and the militants attack on CRPF men in Pulwama of Kashmir and Jammu have made it even worse.

    The Pakistan Super League (PSL) started on the day the militants attacked the security forces. Most of the websites in India including country’s top website Cricbuzz have suspended their telecast of the T20 league.

    Meanwhile, the fans in India have also demanded the foreign players, who are playing in the PSL to be banned from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

    The cricketing stars, who are playing in IPL since a long time like AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell are also playing in this year’s PSL.

  • Worried about husband’s safety in Kashmir, wife kills self

    Ahmedabad: The wife of an Army man allegedly committed suicide in Gujarat’s Devbhoomi Dwarka district as she had become anxious about his safety, the police said Monday News 18 reported.

    Her husband, posted at Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, was visiting home on leave when the incident took place. The couple had got married only two years ago. Meenakshi did not want him to return to Kashmir, said a local police official.

  • J&K Bank postpones probationary officer, banking associate exams

    Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Bank on day postponed the examinations for the posts of probationary officers and banking associate scheduled from February 21 to 24.

    J&K Bank Chairman Parvez Ahmed said the new dates for the exams will be notified separately.

    “Lot of queries being received#JKBank exam. Though preparations are done, our partners in exam IBPS, TCS are here and visiting the test centers but keeping in view the inconvenience the applicants may have to face in the current circumstances, we are announcing the postponement of exams which were to be held on 21, 22,23 & 24 Feb. New dates will be notified in due course,” he announced on twitter.

  • 60 Jaish militants operating in Kashmir

    SRINAGAR, FEB 18: The Indian Army on Monday said that there are at least 60 Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants operating in Kashmir valley, out of which 35 are foreigner.

    Pakistan Army positions across the Line of Control (LoC) are witnessing heightened activity and are on “high operational alert”.

    They are closely monitoring the situation in the aftermath of the suicide bomb attack on Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in Pulwama Aaj tak reported.

    Top sources confirmed News agency Press Trust of Kashmir that the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and top army officer are being constantly briefed about the developments in the Valley, and discuss about the current situation of Kashmir valley.

    Sources added that the meeting is called to discuss further reaction after the militant attack in Pulwama. (PTK)

  • Muslim not safe in India: Akbar Lone

    SRINAGAR, FEB 18: Senior national conference leader and former member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Mohammad Akbar Lone said Muslims are not safe in India and those who are harassing Kashmiri want to see the reaction of Kashmir.

    While speaking to News agency Press Trust of Kashmir Lone said “whatever happens in Pulwama after that Kashmiri Muslims across India, students, businessman threated by Indian people across India which ashamed India across the globe”.

    He further added that Governor failed to protect Kashmiri in Kashmir.

    He added “I personally talk to Police about such incidents in Jammu and told them to protect Kashmiri people in Jammu”.

    “People are waiting for the reaction of Kashmir and then they will know what is fire and they Kashmiri can do” Lone added.

    Lone appealed Divisional commissioner Jammu and police for the safety of Kashmiri in Jammu.

    Over 300 Kashmiri students have reached Mohali from Uttarakhand and Haryana on their way to their homes, a student body arranging their stay in the Punjab town said on Monday, amid reports of harassment of students from the Valley in Dehradun after the Pulwama attack.

    Some Kashmiri youths studying in the Uttarakhand capital have alleged they were harassed and asked by their landlords to vacate accommodations fearing attacks on their properties after the militants strike in Pulwama on Thursday that left 40 CRPF personnel dead.

    Over the past two days, nearly 280 students have arrived from Dehradun and up to 30 from Haryana’s Ambala district, said Jammu and Kashmir Students Organisation president Khwaja Itrat. He said nearly 150 of the total students have moved towards Jammu, from where they will head to their homes in Kashmir Valley.

    “The students told us they wanted to make a halt in Mohali as it was a safer place. We helped them arrange a temporary stay here,” Itrat said.

    “Authorities here are cooperating and helping us out. It is a crucial time for many students with final examinations approaching and loss of studies at this time will impact their grades. But the students want the issue to settle down and then they will decide to return,” he said. (PTK)

    Jammu: Monday, February 18, 2019: Peoples’ Conference Chairman, Sajad Gani Lone on Monday said that intimidation and harassment of Kashmiri students, professionals and families living outside Kashmir was unacceptable and cannot be passed off as a purportedly natural outburst. “These incidents are tantamount to trivialising the enormous sufferings and the pain suffered by the people of Kashmir over the period of the last three decades while their lives were engulfed by the scourge of violence and terror. They have been at the receiving end of the devastation that comes with a prolonged conflict and they have borne the brunt. To attack them, single them out and harass them is shameful and those behind such mob-mentality and bullying should be dealt with in the strongest of terms”, Sajad Gani Lone said today on arrival in Jammu where he is going to reach out to members of the community to ensure their safety and security.

    “If stone pelting is wrong in Kashmir, it is equally wrong in Jammu and should attract the same legal and administrative response. What is wrong in Kashmir can’t be deemed acceptable and tolerable in Jammu. Law and Order is the subject of the State Administration and they need to ensure there is zero tolerance for these mobs in Jammu and those who are involved are arrested and persecuted”, Sajad Lone further added.

    “All State Governments are duty bound to ensure the safety and security of all Kashmiri students, professionals and families residing in their respective States and no laxity should be tolerated in this matter. I have spoken to various State Government authorities and Police Authorities in various States and sought foolproof safety and security of Kashmiri students and families in those States”, the PC Chairman added.

    SRINAGAR: BJP President Amit Shah said on Monday that Indian security forces will give a befitting reply to the “cowardly” militant attack in Pulwama in which 49 CRPF troopers lost their lives.

    “Indian forces will hit back at the right time to avenge this cowardly attack. The BJP has always followed the policy of zero tolerance against terror. The party stands with the families of the CRPF troopers who sacrificed their lives for their motherland,” Shah said.

    The BJP President was in the city on a one-day visit to address the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Shakti Kendra Sammelan and chair a meeting of party workers ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

  • DIG South Kashmir Amit Kumar sustains bullet injury in ongoing Pulwama gunfight

    Srinagar, February 18: Deputy Inspector General of police south Kashmir range, Amit Kumar sustained a bullet injury in his leg during an ongoing encounter between militants and forces at Pinglan village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama, a top official told KNO.

    “Yes DIG South Kashmir received a bullet injury in his leg but he is stable,” the officer said. So far four soldiers including a major and two militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad militant including the “mastermind of recent Lethpora suicide attack” were killed in the encounter. Earlier, a lieutenant colonel of army also got injured in the fresh firing at the encounter site.(KNO)
