  • Jos Buttler trolls R Ashwin during IND vs ENG T20 World Cup semi-final

Ravichandran Ashwin came to bowl in the 7th over of the game and the England captain was seen mocking him. Each time that Buttler was at the bowling end during Ravi’s spell, he was seen standing much behind the popping crease until the former had released the ball.

Here is Mr. Jos Buttler promoting STAY INSIDE STAY SAFE even after the COVID-19 outbreak has been subdued:

Team India was outshone by England in all three (bowling, batting and fielding) departments. None of the bowlers could take a wicket, Rohit Sharma never set attacking fields and no batter except Kohli and Hardik (after getting dropped on 3) could go past the 30-run mark.

Though England made a couple of blunders in the field, they were overall more dedicated than the Men in Blue. Four of their bowlers impressed, and Jos Buttler (80* off 49) and Hales (86* off 47) got the chase dusted on their own.

  • “No ball given just because Virat Kohli demanded”, Pak Fans cry foul

    Sportskeeda

The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 match at the MCG on Sunday, October 23 was expected to a close one. It ended up being an absolute thriller as the Men in Blue chased down 160 courtesy a brilliant innings by Virat Kohli (82* off 53 balls). However, the end of the game was marred by a couple of controversial moments that took some sheen off the match.India needed 16 runs off the last over. The fourth delivery of the over, bowled by left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz, was a high full-toss. Kohli hammered it for a six, and then raised a question about the height of the ball.

The square leg umpire called it a no ball on height, much to the shock of the Pakistan team. The decision was debatable as it was made without having a look at the replays, which pointed out that the decision was an extremely tight one. It could have gone either way if the call had gone upstairs. That was not all. Kohli was bowled off the free hit delivery, but managed to run three byes as the ball ricocheted after hitting the stumps. Many felt it should have been a dead ball. While India went on to win the match off the last ball courtesy a lofted hit from Ravichandran Ashwin, many Pakistan fans on Twitter protested the two decisions, especially the no–ball call. Here are some reactions from social media.

  • ‘Isilye Allah ne Aapko Saza Di, Isilye Aapko Zalil Kiya’ – Shoaib Akhtar’s Scathing Take on Ugly Scenes in Pakistan-Afghanistan Game

Pakistan just about managed to win against Afghanistan in their second Super4 game to seal a place in the final of Asia Cup 2022 and in what turned out to be a rather hot-headed game after the Asif Ali-Fareed Ahmad altercation, the fans of the two teams also took on each other after the match.

Naseem Shah the Hero for Pakistan who smacked two sixes in the final over to hand Pakistan the narrowest of victories – by 1 run- too was visibly upset with what had happened with Ali earlier, and also celebrated the win with much anger towards the Afghan players.

Naseem Shah credits self belief for final-over heroics

Former Pakistan international Shoaib Akhtar in his youtube channel did not mince any words discussing the Asif Ali – Fareed Ahmad incident and termed that very incident as one of the reasons for Afghanistan’s loss. Akhtar said, “We as a nation always love and support Afghanistan during their tough times, what was that behaviour after dismissing Asif Ali, who pushed him around and even abuse him?

“You play cricket, show your passion but such arrogance should not be shown isilye allah ne aapko Saza di, isilye ne aalah ne ek pathan ko duusre pathan se chakka marwake zaleel kiya, aur rote hui gayi Afghanistan team (and this is the reason why the almighty punished you, and this is the reason why the almighty made a Pathan (Naseem Shah) hit a six against you, and you were humiliated and Afghanistan team went out crying),” said Akhtar.

But the former pacer did concede that Afghanistan played out of their skins to run Pakistan close

“Afghanistan are playing good cricket, you are a good team, but you should make it personal. We don’t do this to even India, India wale Pappiya jhapiya kar rahe hai hamare saath, aap hai ki hamare bhai hai, sah mulk hain, hum apse laad bhi karte hai, khyal bhi rakhte hai, and aap kya batameezi bhi karte ho. (We do not make it personal with even the Indian team. We are so well-behaved with them and here you are, we consider you our brothers, you are our neighbouring nation, we love and take care of and here you are showing your brazenness) this is not acceptable yaar.

Akhtar Also praised Shah for his nerves in the game.

Hats off to you Naseem Shah, you are a great asset for this country, he said added, “I told you months ago that in Pindi that you will be a superstar and thankfully you are a superstar. It was good to see your innings and I was happy, you will become a brand of Pakistan, just keep yourself fit.”

  • Naseem Shah credits self belief for final-over heroics

Pakistan No.10 batter Naseem Shah smashed back-to-back sixes in the final over of a thriller in Sharjah to help set up a clash with Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup 2022.

Pakistan needed 20 off 10 balls with two wickets in hand when Naseem Shah walked out to the middle. The tailender, who had only ever faced one ball in T20Is before this, had the experienced Asif Ali at the other end and he quickly turned over the strike to his more senior team-mate.

But panic set in when Ali was dismissed on the fifth ball of the penultimate over, with Naseem then deciding to take it upon himself from that point with Pakistan still requiring 13 runs to register the victory.

“When I went in Asif was there and my job was to give him strike but once he got out the onus was on me,” Naseem said in the post-match chat with Ravi Shastri.

Fazalhaq Farooqi, who had figures of 3-0-19-3 until that point, was due to bowl the final over and Naseem said he was prepared for the yorkers that would come his way.

“When I went in to bat I had the belief to hit the sixes,” he said.

“I practice (hitting sixes) and I knew they would bowl yorkers as they had the field up. There needs to be belief, we keep practicing in the nets and I also changed my bat, it worked.

“There is very little belief when you are nine down but I had the self-belief and this will be a memorable game for me.”

Naseem’s heroics helped knock Afghanistan and India out of the tournament and set up a mouth-watering clash in the final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

  • Babar Azam cannot break Sachin Tendulkar’s record, only Virat Kohli can: Shoaib Akhtar

    Geo News

Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes one of Pakistan’s best batters and skipper across all formats, Babar Azam, cannot break Indian great Sachin Tendulkar’s 100-century record.

Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the only batter who can break Tendulkar’s record, Akhtar said while speaking on Geo News programme “Jashan-e-Cricket”.

“I predict that Kohli will score more than 100 centuries,” he said, adding that if he were in place of Kohli, he would have never married before retiring.

Kohli has 43 centuries and 64 half-centuries in 259 matches to his name, while Babar has smashed 14 centuries and 17 half-centuries in 83 matches.

Talking about the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Akhtar said he would turn it into an even bigger brand than the Indian Premier League (IPL) if he is appointed the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

  • Mohammad Rizwan named ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of 2021

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan on Sunday was named the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year. The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter ruled the roost in 2021 when it came to the shortest format of the game. Aggregating a staggering 1326 runs in only 29 matches, Rizwan struck at an average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 134.89. Apart from his exploits with the bat, he was as solid as ever behind the stumps, playing a key role in Pakistan’s run to the semis during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, where he ended up as the third-highest run-scorer.

He also scored the maiden T20I century of his career against South Africa in Lahore early in the year and ended it continuing his form with a brilliant knock of 87 against West Indies in Karachi. With another T20 World Cup coming up next year, Pakistan will hope that Rizwan continues in the same vein.

Oman’s Zeeshan Maqsood has been named as Men’s Associate Player of 2021. Not only leading his side with aplomb, but Maqsood also flourished in both batting and bowling roles for Oman in 2021. He played a crucial role as a middle-order batter and picked up wickets consistently with his left-arm orthodox as well.

At the heart of his team’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign on home soil, Maqsood took on some of the Associate best across the year, as well as Bangladesh at the global tournament.

On the other hand, Austria’s Andrea-Mae Zepeda has been named as Women’s Associate Player of 2021.

Andrea-Mae Zepeda enjoyed her dream year in the international game, consistently at the top of the order for Austria while scoring her runs at a brisk rate.

Out of the eight T20Is, she played this year, three were against Belgium, while the other five came against Italy. Zepeda was destructive in the series against the Belgians in particular, as she registered 50 scores, including a century, in all three matches against them.
