J&K results does not matter, it is Delhi which rules the roost: Mirwaiz
‘Kashmiri MPs have been mute spectators on human rights violations’
Srinagar: Not giving much importance to the Lok Sabha verdict in Jammu and Kashmir,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) on Friday said that whichever regional party in the state wins the elections, it is the Delhi that rules the roost.

They give assignments to these political parties and these political parties are supposed to worked and follow their policies on ground in Kashmir,” the Hurriyat (M) chairman told KNS.
The Mirwaiz observed that history bears witness to the fact that no Member Parliament from Kashmir has ever spoken against the human rights violations being perpetrated in Kashmir. BJP-Congress two faces of same coin: Geelani
‘Both are communal parties’
Srinagar: While committing over the election results in India, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani termed the BJP and Congress as the two faces of the same coin and said that changing the hands over the tools of oppression doesn’t matter for us because our struggle is not for power or government, but we are fighting for complete freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian ‘illegal and forced occupation’. According to a statement issued to KNS, he said that they are struggling according to the International rules, regulations, principles and morality but India is following the police of power and force.
While terming both BJP and Congress as communal parties, Geelani said that wearing the secular mask Congress party from last 67 years have massacred innocent Muslims of India and Jammu and Kashmir and in Indian history about 36 thousand anti-Muslim riots have occurred in Congress rule.
“The shameful act of Babri Masjid demolition was performed by BJP and Shiv Sena under the patronage of Congress government. Sikhs and Christians were massacred in Congress rule and the Congress ministers adopted “Chankiyaie and Mekawali” politics and captured the state of Jammu and Kashmir by force and military might and brought the whole South Asia on the verge of nuclear war. The wealth, capital or money which should have been used to eliminate the poverty of India and Pakistan, those billions of dollars are used in the race of weapons and arms, because India is suffering from the passion of war.”
Geelani said that millions of people in India are forced to quench their hunger from the dustbins, millions of Indian people are forced to spend the nights under open sky and on roads, due to the wrong policies of Congress millions of people in India are forced to live a life below poverty line and the bloodshed and massacres executed on the behalf of Congress are also the black chapters of Indian history.
“While committing on the BJP’s role in India, the pro-freedom leader said that before the partition and especially after the partition, BJP, Shiv Sena and Bajrangdal with communal and Hindutva ideologies, have never accepted the existence of non-Hindu’s especially Muslims in India and 1947 BJP, Shiv Sena and Bajrangdal played a lead role in the bloodshed of Muslims in India and Jammu and Kashmir.”
He said that “Babri Masjid demolition like painful act was performed by this BJP in broad-day-light, the worst of its kind and inhuman incident in Gujrat where 3 thousand innocent Muslims were killed and burned alive, was also performed by BJP and Bajrangdal and the fake encounters like Best Bakery and Ishrat Jehan are also a proof of communal mindset of BJP.”
Geelani said that when both these parties are equally responsible for the massacres and bloodshed of innocent and unarmed people and both the parties have same viewpoint over the disputed nature of Kashmir, than how does it matters for us that who holds the power. He said that we should not hope anything from any of them (Congress and BJP) but we should remain firm like a rock and show steadfastness on our just stand and we should not lose hope out of pressure and fear, but keeping complete faith on Almighty Allah, we should get united on every front for the freedom movement of Kashmir, because this unity is our power and a key to success.
He said that powerful people doesn’t remain always in power nor have oppressed people remain oppressed ever. Chairman Hurriyat said that the precious sacrifices of our nation have placed the freedom movement of Kashmir at such a level where from no one can suppress it, nor can anybody make any kind of sellout with it. The freedom movement of Kashmir have reached at a stage where from if Kashmir dispute is not resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiri people and according to the UN resolutions, it can destroy the entire South Asian region. Geelani said that we have a single track to follow that is to be united and firm against the illegal and forced occupation of India.(KNS)

Democratic competition has achieved a new cutting edge in the State and people have participated in the process not only in respectable numbers but in case of Kashmir division they have had to brave heavy odds.”
She said: “The PDP has emerged as the leader bagging all the three seats from Kashmir valley while receiving a sizeable number of votes in Jammu region. This is a moment of glory for our party which has the distinction of being the youngest political organization of the State and which has been responsible for introducing a genuine competition in political scene of J&K which had witnessed the predominance of only one political party for better part of the past century.”
Mehbooba said: “The overwhelming mandate that we have received is a matter of great satisfaction for me as the President and the entire leadership of the party. We treat this as an opportunity to serve the state to the best of our ability and also recognize it as a challenge in view of the huge problems that the state faces and we have setout to address. For me personally this is an overwhelming occasion as I along with my distinguished colleagues Mr Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Mr Tariq Hameed Karra are trusted by the people for representing them in the highest democratic forum of the country. I am humbled by the new responsibility and the expectations that this vote entails.”
The PDP president said that these results also show that the new age voters vote for real issues. “We thank the people of the State in general for once again having reposed their trust in democratic process and constitutional methods of finding a resolution to the Kashmir issue and the issues of Jammu and Kashmir. We are grateful to them and I pray to God that we are able to discharge our duty towards them to the best of our ability and in accordance with our manifesto.”
Mehbooba said: “Based on this decisive mandate we will do exactly what we have stated in our manifesto; not look for ministerial berths and use the parliament as a forum for debate and dialogue on the Kashmir issue. I also express my appreciation for the State Administration for the smooth conduct of elections during which they had to face lots of challenges. The Election Commission of India rose to the peculiar challenges of credibility in the system and delivered a by and large free election.” She said that PDP can now legitimately claim to be a pan Jammu and Kashmir party and for this she has to thank the people and the party patron whose idealism and belief in the inherent strength of a democracy have paid rich dividends. It is not PDP wave but hatred against NC: Soz
Congress squarely blames NC for worst performance in Valley
Srinagar: The Congress on Friday squarely blamed National Conference for the debacle of coalition candidates in Kashmir valley. Talking to KNS, Prof Saif-u-Din Soz, president Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) said: “It is in no circumstances the PDP wave in Kashmir but surely a deep hatred against National Conference prevalent in Valley that has given PDP three seats.”
Soz said it is not only him but many other Congress leaders believe that the votes could not be transferred to National Conference candidates because of hatred against this party on the ground. “You have seen votes could not be transferred in some constituencies of South and North Kashmir. Despite serious efforts by the Congress leaders the people decided to vote against NC candidate,” the PCC president told KNS.
Soz said that there was a communal polarization in Jammu which caused the defeat of Congress candidates. “No doubt there are secular forces in Jammu region but this time the communal polarization worked for BJP,” he added. Meanwhile, Asghar Karbalie, Congress leader from Kargil told KNS that National Conference had ditched Congress in Ladakh by fielding its candidate from Islamia School who according to the Congress leader cut votes of Congress in Ladakh Lok Sabha seat. He termed the defeat of coalition candidates ‘tragic’ adding that it was further unfortunate that a person like Ghulam Nabi Azad has also lost the election whom Congress considered to be best of the candidates and who had served the state best. “The election will go down in the annals of parliamentary history of India as a situation in which propaganda won over facts and truth got mixed with falsehood of various shades. But, finally it is a democratic and peoples’ verdict and we have to accept it gracefully,” he added.
The PCC chief said that it is an occasion to congratulate the winners. “It will be our endeavor to work harder and reach the people and continue to serve them best. I feel convinced that India’s strong secular edifice will stand test of the times and the hallmark of India’s polity will continue to be the unity in diversity,” Soz said. (KNS)

Alliance white wash Omar accepts defeat as Chief Minister
Srinagar: Accepting the defeat of the coalition candidates with ‘humility’ Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Friday said that he can’t blame Congress party for the defeat as his party National Conference failed to get votes where its position was stable and robust. Addressing a press conference in at his Gupkar residence after the debacle of Alliance candidates in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said that he had never expected one-sided results. We failed to get votes even from those segments where we had worked hard on development,” he said adding that he aceeptst the defeat with humility. While congratulating the victorious candidates of PDP and BJP, Omar Abdullah said that his party fought elections on national issues while PDP raised local issues like hike in electricity and hanging of Afzal Guroo. “I don’t know whether the issue related to the hanging of Afzal Guroo played a role in our defeat or not but we will analyze the causes of our debacle,” he said. “I congratulate PDP and BJP and hope that they represent wishes of people in the parliament. After the defeat it is the discretion of my party whether it would continue with him as the chief minister or not. It is my defeat as the Chief Minister, Omar said, “adding that he had been always been a loyal soldier of NC. Omar said Congress can’t be solely blamed for the trouncing. He said that the outcome of the results would not make the National Conference irrelevant. Acknowledging that he was yet to come to terms with the poll results, Omar said it was time for self-introspection for the party and learn quick lessons with assembly elections being round the corner. “I am still coming to terms with the results. We will have to go segment wise, assembly wise. There are assembly segments where we have taken a beating. There are lessons to be learnt. In constituencies where development has taken in the last five-and-a-half years, we have not won,” Omar said adding that this is not the end of NC and it will come back. “We have learnt from the last polls, when we were defeated in 2002”. He said the main opposition PDP, which has won the three seats, did not become irrelevant when they had lost in the last Parliamentary polls,” he said. Earlier after watching the early trends from different parts of the country, Omar Abdullah had said on his twitter site: “I imagined a worst case scenario but early trends are worse than that. Let’s hope this trend reverses as the count progresses.” (CNS)

As counting for Srinagar seat was going on at snail’s pace and no official declaration was there, a number users wrote that they are eagerly waiting to listen the ‘good news’ about the defeat of Dr Farooq Abdullah. “Why anyone is not telling me that Farooq Abdullah has lost the Srinagar seat, I am eager to listen this good news as it will refresh my soul,” Aquib-ul-Islam reacted to a status on facebook.
