Srinagar: In a literary function held here at Door Darshan Studios, Adbi Markaz Kamraz (AMK) President Dr Aziz Hajni said that Markaz will not allow a section of people to divide Kashmiri language on the basis of script.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the function had been organized by AMK in collaboration with Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar to release the Urdu poetic collection of Dr Gazanfar Ali, a renowned Doctor and poet of the valley. On this occasion AMK President said that though we are not language fanatic but preservation and promotion of Kashmiri language is our first love and we can not make any compromise on it. He expressed serious concern over the confusion being un necessarily created over the script of Kashmiri language.
“This language is written in Persio- Arabic script for last so many centuaries by all Kashmiris including Pandit brethren”, he said. He urged all stake holders not to allow any political experimentation over the issue of script.
The function was presided over by Prof M.Zaman Azurda where as Dr G.Q. Alaqaband was the chief guest on the occasion. Mohammad Shafi Pandit, Ajaz Kakroo, Dr Shujaat Bukhari, Dy Director General DDK Srinagar Shabir Mujahid, Vijay Saqi, Rafiq Raaz and many other poets, writers and intellectuals were present on this occasion.
In his welcome address, AMK president Dr Aziz Hajni said that AMK never hesitates to organize functions wherein Urdu and English books are released as AMK is of the opinion that all languages are sisters and literature connects the human hearts. Dr Hajni said that languages should not be politicized.
In his introductory speech, Dy Director General DDK Srinagar Shabir Mujahid said that the Kendra will always be at the disposal of literary events and it being a public broadcaster has the duty to promote local culture and languages. Mohammad Shafi Pandit in his speech also opposed the move to introduce Devnagri as an alternate script for Kashmiri language.
In his presidential address, Professor Mohammad Zaman Azurda said that languages are the identity of a nation and we should always work for the upliftment of our mother tongue. Prof Azurda said that we are gradually losing our culture which is a serious issue. He appealed all the people of Kashmir to join hands to preserve our centuries old rich culture. On this occasion, Dr G.Q.Allaqband also spoke on the personality of the author Dr Gazanfar Ali. AMK general Secretary Mohammad Amin Bhat anchored the proceedings of the function.
