‘Such incidents earn Kashmir a bad name, fraught with serious consequences’
Srinagar: Terming the mob attacks against the trucks ferrying goods on national highway as unfortunate, former minister and DPN chief Ghulam Hassan Mir on Monday said such attacks belly Kashmir’s claims of being hospitable and generous.
Mir in a tele statement said that trucks carrying fuel and other essential commodities to Kashmir should not have been attacked and that those doing should understand that they are harming none but themselves.
Mir said that instead of giving safe package to the trucks carrying essential supplies and fuel to Kashmir valley, some people have been found attacking the vehicles and causing them damage on the national highway. “Kashmir is known for its hospitality and generosity. Such unfortunate incidents earn bad name to Kashmir and this should not happen,” Mir said.
He appealed youth to maintain calm and allow the commodities to reach Valley. “Apart from their own livelihood, these truck drivers hailing from various parts help us to earn. They export our fruits to the outer world and provide us entities that we need for ourselves and our children. We should be thankful to them and must not harm them in anyway,” he said. KNS
