This is to draw the attention of authorities from J&K Lakes and Waterways Development, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and as well as the other concerned higher authorities over the issue of severe road water logging problems at Bismillah Colony, Zakura, Srinagar.

Residents complain that whenever there’s rain, our colony is almost immediately inundated due to which Commuters and residents have a tough time moving or stepping out thus causing severe inconvenience.

Although the area is in the heart of city but still lacks a drainage system which is the main reason for waterlogging in the area.

Speaking with Kashmir Today, the residents of Bismillah Colony, Zakura urged authorities to look the matter and resolve the issue at earliest.

SRINAGAR, SEP 13: Crowd gathered at funeral; The body of Police Sub Inspector Arshad Ahmed Mir, who was killed in a militant attack in Srinagar, Kashmir, was buried last Sunday night. His body had reached Kalmuna village in Kupwara district where a large number of people had gathered. Its video has been tweeted by Jammu and Kashmir Police.

25-year-old Mir was shot when he was taking a detained man for a medical check-up. Jammu and Kashmir Police have informed by tweeting that DGP Dilbag Singh has said that ‘we have lost a brave young officer’.

The tweet read, “Every life that has been lost is a cause for concern for us and the perpetrators of this crime will soon be brought to justice.” Officials say that Mir had joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police last year as a sub-inspector.

After a year-long training, he was posted at Khanyar police station a few months back. The video of the attack on him has been captured on the CCTV camera, in which militants are coming and shooting him from behind. Three bullets had hit him in the head.

Earlier Director-General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said that the terrorists involved in the killing of a J&K Police sub-inspector in Khanyar today have been identified.

Speaking to reporters at the wreath-laying ceremony of the deceased constable at DPL Srinagar, the DGP said that all the previous modules of the terrorists involved in the pistol shooting had been eliminated, while this was the case. Looks like a new group has been formed.

“I don’t want to reveal the organization or module behind today’s attack but the perpetrators have been identified and they will be brought to justice soon,” he said. (Crowd gathered at funeral)

The DGP said that every life lost is the cause of concern for us and added that terrorists involved in the attack have been identified and follow up operation has been launched adding that perpetrators of the criminal act would be brought to justice soon.

As has been reported that Arshid Ahmad Mir, Probational Sub- Inspector was Critically injured in a cowardly attack of terrorists at Khanyar in Srinagar. He was shifted to hospital where he left for a heavenly abode. (PTK).

25 micro-containment zones, curbs to be imposed in these areas; will intensify drive, Covid Violators to face FIR, say officials

Srinagar, Sep 13: At a time when Srinagar is contributing to the half of the daily Covid positive cases in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir from last few weeks, district administration Srinagar has notified around 21 Micro Containment Zone and sealed these areas as per the Covid protocols.

The district administration Srinagar is also going to intensify the drive against the Covid violators and may slap FIRs under relevant laws for violation of SoPS.

An official from the district administration Srinagar, while speaking to the News Agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, as there is a spike in the Covid positive cases in the district Srinagar from last few weeks, the district administration Srinagar has notified around 21 micro containment zones and have placed the Covid restrictions in those areas to prevent the further spread of the virus.

The official said that despite fines, there has been a complacent approach from some sections of the people who do not adhere to the Covid protocols, the district administration Srinagar is going to act tough against the Covid violators and may face FIR.

“For marriages, district administration had directed the families to seek necessary permission for the marriage gathering as there is standing CAP on the marriage gatherings and funerals, but many people have stopped to take the permission from the district administration and are resorting to huge gatherings making the entire gathering vulnerable to infection,” the official said, adding that “Starting this week the drive will be intensified, all along the district Srinagar, and wherever the Covid Violators will be found or reported, will be dealt with according to the law.”

On being asked about the reopening of schools in the valley along with the district Srinagar he said, district administration Srinagar has sought the data of vaccinated students, teachers and other staff from the institutions which will be verified and mapped with the vaccinated data.

“Following the authentication of data, a formal permission will be issued to open the institution in the district”, he added.

According to the official figures, district Srinagar has so far reported 73,159 Covid Positive cases, out of which 837 have died while the district’s current active case load is 604.

Meanwhile, Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday reported 86 Covid positive cases, out of which 48 are reported from district Srinagar—(KNO)

Srinagar, Sep 13: The Crime Branch Kashmir Monday produced a chargesheet against the then BOPEE chairman, Mushtaq Ahmad Peer before the court of special judge anti-corruption Srinagar.

In a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said that the Crime Branch Kashmir produced the Charge-Sheet in case FIR No. 42/2017 U/S 420, 409-RPC r/w 5(2) PC Act of Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir against Mushtaq Ahmad Peer (the then Chairman BOPEE) before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar.

“The brief facts of the case are that the accused person while being posted as Chairman BOPEE from the year 2009 to 2012, transferred Govt. money amounting to RS. 2.73 crores into his personal bank account with the object that the same will be utilized for various official activities,” reads the statement.

It reads that the accused person with a criminal intent put the money to his own use by investing in smart saver accounts, raising cash certificates and liquidation of his personal loan.

“During the course of investigation, it has been established that the accused person in violation of BOPEE Act and Financial rules in vogue, has misappropriated an amount of RS. RS. 1, 15, 40,153/-. Besides, an amount of RS. 3, 49, 352/- as interest accrued on Smart Savers/ Cash Certificates were also misappropriated by the accused person by abusing his official position, as Chairman BOPEE,” it reads.

It reads that the accused person was also convicted by Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Anti Corruption, Srinagar in Case FIR No. 24/2013 U/S 420, 406, 201, 120-B-RPC, r/w 5(1)(d), 5(2) PC Act of Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir, vide judgement dated 25.04.2018—(KNO)

Srinagar, Sept 13: Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of Dr Aziz Hajini, a leading Kashmiri poet and writer and former secretary of the Cultural Academy.

In its condolence statement, the Anjuman on behalf of its incarcerated President Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq termed the demise of the late Dr Hajini as a great loss to the Kashmiri language and literature.

Dr Aziz Hajini was not only a writer, poet and critic but he also spent his entire life in the promotion and publication of Kashmiri language and literature, the Anjuman said, adding that his demise is a big loss to the Kashmiri language and literature movement.

The statement said that the late Dr Aziz Hajini during his lifetime had also organised a scholarly seminar in the main hall (auditorium) of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam under the leadership of its present president Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq in which many important and influential scholars and literary personalities of Kashmir had participated and expressed their views on the subject.

The Anjuman expressed heartfelt condolence and sympathy with the Hajini family, especially with the deceased’s son, Azhar Hajini; and prayed to Allah Almighty for forgiveness of the departed soul, his ascension to Jannah and patience for the bereaved family.

Budgam, Sep 13: A student from central Kashmir’s Budgam district was found hanging at his hostel terrace in a college in Punjab.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Umer Dev, son of Abdul Ahad Dev of Chewdara Beerwah Budgam was found hanging at a hostel of RIMT University college where he was persuing BSC Radiology.

Shahid, a roommate of Umer at RIMT college told KNO that he was missing from last evening and his body was found hanging in the morning and police have taken body from spot.

A police officer confirmed and said that the family has left towards Punjab to get the body—(KNO)

Srinagar, Sep 13: At least six grenades were found near QAT bunker of 28 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that after finding something suspicious, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was called immediately.

They said that BDS squad of 73 bn has reached the spot, saying that nearly six to seven grenades have been found near the QAT bunker—(KNO)
