  • AMK resents fresh move to introduce Devnagri as alternative script

Srinagar: Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) has expressed serious concern over the reported lobbying by a section of Kashmiri speaking population urging Government of India (GOI) to introduce Devnagri as an alternative script.

In a statement issued to KNS, the AMK spokesman said that move was only aimed to undermine the importance of the language spoken by the majority of population in Jammu and Kashmir. The current Persio-Arabic script is approved one by both GOI and Government of Jammu and Kashmir and to seek Devnagri’s inclusion as alternative  was not based on sincerity but to divide the language on communal basis. It is worth mentioning here that for many centuries all the Kashmiri writers have been writing in the same script.

The spokesman recalled that a similar move was made during UPA-I government but it was resented by the people in general and political as well as cultural organizations in particular, following which the then HRD Minister Arjun Singh made an announcement on the floor of the parliament that such a proposal cannot be accepted.

AMK strongly believes that the language is a binding force between communities and any effort to divide it on the basis of a script can only lead to furthering the distances. Kashmiri language, the spokesman said that has been the biggest link between various Kashmiri speaking communities despite the turbulent times the Valley has seen in 25 years.

He reiterated that any such move will be fought tooth and nail and cautioned the GOI against entertaining any such move. AMK, he said advises the elements behind this move to participate in the larger goal of togetherness and make language as a strong bond. A minuscule minority, the spokesman said should not be allowed to hoodwink the opinion.

The spokesman said that AMK would soon write to HRD Minister, Governor and Chief Minister putting forth its viewpoint and apprise them about the consequences in case such a move was accepted.

According to a statement issued to KNS, although New Delhi committed aggression against the state in 1947 and thrust upon  us a particular class of politicians who became its tool in eroding this special status, they could not dilute the issue nor could they break the conviction, will and determination of the people. Moosa urged New Delhi to realize the fact that Kashmir is not an issue of law and order and cannot be resolved through military means. A meaningful political process involving all the parties to the dispute is the only way out for achieving permanent peace in the region. • BJP’s will never succeed in suppressing Kashmir freedom movement: Shah

Srinagar: Expressing serious resentment over the statement of BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqwi in which he had said that Kashmiri separatists’ dream of creating a new country within India will never get fulfilled, the Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) leader Shabir Ahmad Shah said that Kashmir had never been a part of India, which, by landing its troops in Kashmir in 1947 occupied it forcibly and illegally.

In his reply to BJP vice-president, Shah in a  statement issued to KNS said the statement of Mr. Naqwi in which he talked about a single country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is bereft of any historical reality and is a hallucination of Indian imperialist elements.

“If the statement of Mukhtar Abbas Naqwi is factually correct, then why is Kashmir granted a special status under Article 370 to keep on with their national identity within the union of India,” Shah questioned, adding that we want complete freedom from the union of India. The veteran resistance leader Shabir Ahmad Shah made it clear that Kashmir was neither part of India nor will it ever be. “India is ruling Kashmir with its military might. History is testimony to this fact that forcible rule has to get perished one day or other and Kashmiris will continue their freedom struggle against Indian occupation till they get their birth right of self-determination,” Shah added.

  • Hurriyat (G) terms Naqvi’s remarks ‘frustrated’

‘He lost elections, didn’t figure in Modi’s cabinet so made such remarks’

Srinagar: While terming the press statement of BJP national vice-president Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi as his frustration, Hurriyat Conference (G) said that Kashmir was never any legal part of India in past, at present and nor is it possible in future.

“India is holding Kashmir with the help of its military might and the disputed nature of Kashmir is such a huge and clear reality that a sound minded person can’t deny. Hurriyat conference said that the pro-freedom people of Kashmir are struggling for their basic and birth right, right to self-determination and they will never succumb to the threats of India and they will never surrender their just cause.

In a press statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that the statement of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has been given out of frustration and his frustration is very much justified. “He has miserably lost in the recently held Indian parliamentary elections and then He was further disappointed when his name didn’t figure in Modi’s cabinet.”

While terming the condition of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi as pathetic, hurriyat spokesman said that the Muslim name of Mukhtar has become a problem for him and now for trying to prove himself as  ‘more loyal than the King’, he has snubbed the pro-freedom camp. The freedom movement of Kashmiri nation is not like what Naqvi has said but this struggle is a living reality and it doesn’t only include the precious sacrifices of Kashmiri nation but it has the strong backing of 18 UN resolutions and the unfulfilled promises and agreements of Indian leadership which they have made with the people of Kashmir on national as well as international levels. The reality of Kashmir can’t be diluted merely that Naqvi couldn’t convert his ministerial dream into reality. Spokesman said that Mukhtar doesn’t have any important status and in the past many influential rulers of India have also issued such statements about Kashmir but that couldn’t change the situation.

Nether have they succeeded in changing the disputed nature of Kashmir nor have they motivated people to surrender. Rulers came and left but the Kashmir issue is still alive and even more stronger and due to lingering of this dispute, not only the people of Kashmir are

suffering but the whole sub-continent is passing through the political uncertain situation and instability is prevailing in the whole south Asian region. Hurriyat spokesman cautioned that the mischievous statement of the BJP’s leaders are adding fuel to the already disturbed situations of the state and it will have serious consequences if not stopped immediately and its responsibility will be on the shoulders of those people who are acting like the Ostrich bird and are running away from the reality of Kashmir issue.
