{"id":17937,"date":"2019-06-03T03:48:24","date_gmt":"2019-06-02T22:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/?p=17937"},"modified":"2019-06-03T03:48:24","modified_gmt":"2019-06-02T22:18:24","slug":"4-lakh-devotees-mark-laylat-ul-qadr-at-al-aqsa-mosque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=17937","title":{"rendered":"4 lakh devotees mark Laylat-ul-Qadr at Al-Aqsa Mosque"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>JERUSALEM:<\/em><\/strong><em> Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Muslims converged on East Jerusalem\u2019s Al-Aqsa Mosque to mark Laylat-ul-Qadr, the night of the first revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad, according to Palestinian officials.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, head of Muslim Endowments and Al-Aqsa Affairs, told Anadolu Agency that some 400,000 Muslims worshipers marked the observance at the holy mosque.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Men over 40, children under 12, and women of all ages were allowed by Israeli authorities to enter occupied East Jerusalem without permits for the occasion.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>According to al-Khatib, worshipers arrived at the iconic site despite Israeli security measures and hundreds of police officers deployed at the entrance of Jerusalem\u2019s old city.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Israel has illegally occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In a move never recognized by the international community, Israel annexed the entire city in 1980, claiming it as the self-proclaimed Jewish state\u2019s \u201ceternal and undivided\u201d capital.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>For Muslims, Al-Aqsa represents the world\u2019s third-holiest site after Mecca and Medina.
