{"id":1828,"date":"2014-04-26T16:03:35","date_gmt":"2014-04-26T16:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kashmir-today.net\/?p=1828"},"modified":"2014-04-26T16:03:35","modified_gmt":"2014-04-26T16:03:35","slug":"thousands-attend-militants-funeral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=1828","title":{"rendered":"Thousands attend militants&#8217; funeral"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar:<\/strong> Thousands of people Saturday participated in the funeral prayers of two militants killed during a gunfight with government forces in an encounter in South Kashmir&#8217;s Shupian.<\/p>\n<p>The funeral procession was held in the Shupian district and later the bodies of the two militants were taken in a procession to their respective areas.<\/p>\n<p>Amid tears and sobs, the, two slain were laid to rest at Drubgam and Kellar \u2018Martyr\u2019s graveyard\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani addressed protesters over phone from his Hyderpora residence. \u201cThe struggle would continue till last Indian solider leaves Kashmir,\u201d he told the mourners.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, Geelani \u201curged the people to safeguard the sacrifices offered by the martyrs\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to take care of these sacrifices and refrain from activities that are detrimental for the interest of ongoing movement,\u201d he said, adding the youth of Kashmir would continue to resist the control of New Delhi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople who cast their votes and support the pro-India elements are committing the act of treason. Whenever we cast votes for these elements actually we enslave ourselves and the next generations,\u201d Geelani added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in Drubgam, Kellar and other areas parts of the Shupian and Pulwom districts in South Kashmir to mourn the death of militants.
