{"id":189,"date":"2014-03-25T17:45:00","date_gmt":"2014-03-25T17:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kashmir-today.net\/protesters-demand-reopening-of-pathribal-fake-encounter\/"},"modified":"2014-03-25T17:45:00","modified_gmt":"2014-03-25T17:45:00","slug":"protesters-demand-reopening-of-pathribal-fake-encounter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=189","title":{"rendered":"Protesters demand reopening of Pathribal Fake Encounter"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"background-color: #f2f2f2;\"><b>Srinagar:<\/b>&nbsp;<\/span>Locals staged a protest in Brariaangan village of south Kashmir\u2019s Islamabad town on Tuesday on the 14th anniversary of Pathribal fake encounter victims.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Along with the family members of the victims, the protesters gathered near the graveyard of Pathribal and Bulbul Nowgam and observed a Fateh Khawani for the slain people.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kashmir.watch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/kashmir-protesters-demand-reopening-pathribal-fake-encounter-case.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/kashmir.watch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/kashmir-protesters-demand-reopening-pathribal-fake-encounter-case.jpg\" height=\"248\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Reports said people carrying banners and placards seeking severe punishment for killers of these innocent men took out a march.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">On this occasion, Rashid Khan, the son of one of the victims of Pathribal fake encounter told CNS that they will struggle till justice is not delivered in the case.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u201cThe way Army has given clean chit to the killers indicates that there is military rule in&nbsp;Kashmir while the state government is helpless and powerless to book and punish the culprits who are all Indian army soldiers,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">He said the Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah raised this issue in the assembly to gain sympathy from the people.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">\u201cElections are coming and Omar Abdullah did lip service to gain some votes,\u201d Khan said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Another protestor said they will leave no stone unturned to get the killers punished. \u201cWe have not given up and our struggle will continue,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif;\">Nearly 14 years after the Pathribhal fake encounter that rocked Jammu and Kashmir, Army closed the case saying the evidence recorded could not establish prima facie charges against any of the five accused Army personnel.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Srinagar:&nbsp;Locals staged a protest in Brariaangan village of south Kashmir\u2019s Islamabad town on Tuesday on the 14th anniversary of Pathribal fake encounter victims.
