{"id":24687,"date":"2020-04-30T15:02:21","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T09:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/no-salaries-for-april-may-hours-flown-based-pay-for-those-operating-cargo-flights-spicejet-to-pilots\/"},"modified":"2020-04-30T15:02:21","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T09:32:21","slug":"no-salaries-for-april-may-hours-flown-based-pay-for-those-operating-cargo-flights-spicejet-to-pilots","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=24687","title":{"rendered":"No salaries for April, May; hours flown-based pay for those operating cargo flights: SpiceJet to pilots"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>The budget carrier has a total of 116 passenger planes and five freight aircraft in its fleet.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/no-salaries-for-april-may-hours-flown-based-pay-for-those-operating-cargo-flights-spicejet-to-pilots\/article31460505.ece\">PTI<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SpiceJet on Wednesday told its pilots that they will not be paid salaries for April and May, and said those who have been operating cargo flights will get paid for \u201cblock hours flown\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SpiceJet\u2019s flight operations chief Gurcharan Arora told pilots through an email that \u201cas of today, 16 per cent of our aircraft and 20 per cent of our pilots are flying\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are doing this by flying our five cargo aircraft and also flying more \u2018cargo on seat\u2019 on our passenger aircraft,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The budget carrier has a total of 116 passenger planes and five freight aircraft in its fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India has been under lockdown since March 25 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. All commercial passenger flights have been suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Arora told pilots: \u201cWe will not be getting any salary for April and May 2020. Those of us who have been flying cargo, will get paid for the block hours flown.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Block hours is the duration of a pilot operating the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The email, which has been accessed by PTI, stated: \u201cOver the coming weeks, we intend to increase the number of aircraft flying (cargo+cargo on seat) to more than 50 per cent and the number of pilots flying to 100 per cent.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The budget carrier has a total of 116 passenger planes and five freight aircraft in its fleet.
