{"id":24980,"date":"2020-05-07T16:03:22","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T10:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/wont-be-able-to-pay-full-april-salaries-to-workers-says-traders-body\/"},"modified":"2020-05-07T16:03:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-07T10:33:22","slug":"wont-be-able-to-pay-full-april-salaries-to-workers-says-traders-body-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=24980","title":{"rendered":"Won\u2019t be able to pay full April salaries to workers, says traders\u2019 body"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Traders are undergoing a tremendous financial crunch, it tells Minister.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Thursday wrote to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, expressing their inability to pay full salaries for April to their employees amid pressure from trade unions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The letter, dated May 7, stated that \u201cunder the circumstances it is becoming more difficult\u2026to pay full salary for April\u2026since the traders are undergoing a tremendous financial crunch and full payment of salary for the April month is next to impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If these payments are made, the traders\u2019 body warned that the business of traders will \u201cfall like anything\u201d and in the absence of any inflow of money, this will be disastrous for the retail trade as well as badly affect the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026receiving input from traders across the country we are constrained to inform that in the present situation when the business establishment of the traders are closed since March 25 across the country, they do not have any source of their income,\u201d the letter added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asking the Minister to look into the \u201cground realities\u201d, CAIT requested the government to intervene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier, CAIT had suggested that traders be allowed to pay salaries as per mutual agreement between the employers and employees, or allow payment of 30% of the salary \u201cwhich is quite sufficient for livelihood of the employees\u201d.
