{"id":26925,"date":"2020-06-07T09:05:44","date_gmt":"2020-06-07T03:35:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/online-classes-only-short-term-response-nilekani\/"},"modified":"2020-06-07T09:05:44","modified_gmt":"2020-06-07T03:35:44","slug":"online-classes-only-short-term-response-nilekani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=26925","title":{"rendered":"Online classes only short-term response: Nilekani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wap.business-standard.com\/article\/current-affairs\/online-classes-short-term-answer-need-to-make-schools-resilient-nilekani-120060600851_1.html\">PTI<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rapid shift to teaching and learning activities online prompted by closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic is only a \u201cshort-term response\u201d and we need to fundamentally reimagine schools as a resilient system which can function under continuous turbulence, according to Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Classroom should not be the only location, teacher the only facilitator and textbook not the only medium, is the roadmap laid by Nilekani for a \u201cresilient\u201d school system while delivering the keynote address at a virtual conference on \u2018Future of Schools: Overcoming COVID-19 challenge and beyond\u2019 organsied by Ashoka University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe rapid shift to move everything online, zoom classes, teaching through smart phones, all of this is part of a short-term response which was necessary but not sufficient. We need to fundamentally reimagine schools, build a resilient system strategically detailing how are we going to deal with the turbulence for next few years,\u201d said Nilekani, who is also co-founder of EkStep Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The foundation extends learning opportunities to Indian children through a collaborative, universal platform that facilitates creation and consumption of education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA resilient system is something in which we are able to function even when there is turbulence outside, it is like a ship sailing through a stormy sea and resilience has to be thought through.
