{"id":3019,"date":"2014-05-28T16:00:38","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T16:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kashmir-today.net\/?p=3019"},"modified":"2014-05-28T16:00:38","modified_gmt":"2014-05-28T16:00:38","slug":"article-370-a-legal-basis-of-jks-accession-with-india-wajahat-habibullah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=3019","title":{"rendered":"Article 370 a legal basis of J&amp;K\u2019s accession with India: Wajahat Habibullah"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Srinagar: T<\/strong>he former chairman of National Commission for Minorities Wajahat Habibullah,\u00a0<span>on Wednesday<\/span>\u00a0termed Dr Jatinder Singh, MOS PMO\u2019s remarks on Article 370 a figment of imagination.<\/p>\n<p>Talking to KNS, Habibullah, who was also Chief Information Commissioner of India said: \u201cI don\u2019t know on what basis Mr Singh made such remarks on an Article which legalizes J&amp;K\u2019s accession with India.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Known for his distinguished services rendered in Jammu and Kashmir in various capacities, Habibullah said \u00a0that Article 370 cannot be changed in any circumstances. \u201cIt is enshrined in the constitution of India which guarantees special status to Jammu and Kashmir and remarks made on this Article are unfortunate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Member of Indian Administrative Service of 1968 batch, Habibullah who is also recipient of a gold medal for his distinguished services in Jammu and Kashmir in 1996, also termed Nawaz-Modi meet a good beginning in normalizing relations between the two countries. \u201cThough it was just a courtesy meeting but I hope the same can pave way for formalized negotiations.
