{"id":30955,"date":"2020-08-08T18:45:28","date_gmt":"2020-08-08T13:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/?p=30955"},"modified":"2020-08-08T18:45:28","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T13:15:28","slug":"dps-srinagar-awarded-the-first-sat-center-in-jk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=30955","title":{"rendered":"DPS Srinagar awarded the first SAT Center in J&#038;K"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Srinagar<\/strong>: In a first for Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi Public School Srinagar has been allotted a SAT center in the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SAT or Scholastic Aptitude Test is an entrance exam used by almost every college and university in the west especially the US to make admission decisions. It is a multiple-choice, pencil- and \u2013 paper test created and administered by the College Board. The SAT is not only a highly recommended test but an extremely important one as it is the first criterion of eligibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most students take their SATs during their high school years. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student&#8217;s readiness for college and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. However, in J&amp;K awareness about the exam and \u2018The SAT Culture\u2019 is lacking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, many students hesitate to take the exam as they have to travel outside J&amp;K to take the exam, which is a drain on their resources. The establishment of a \u2018SAT Center\u2019 will, therefore, greatly ease the difficulties of students. Commenting on this development, the Principal Alistair R A Freese said \u201cThe center will make it easier for the students aspiring to study in international colleges and save them the annoyance of travelling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, this shall make the students in Srinagar aware of this exam and develop \u2018SAT Culture\u2019 so that our students don\u2019t give up on their aspirations.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chairman, Vijay Dhar congratulated the school on this achievement and said \u201cI am proud that Delhi Public School Srinagar is the first and only SAT Center in J&amp;K.
