{"id":31104,"date":"2020-08-10T23:45:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-10T18:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/?p=31104"},"modified":"2020-08-10T23:45:34","modified_gmt":"2020-08-10T18:15:34","slug":"july-18-shopian-encounter-army-says-its-investigating-matter-after-social-media-input","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=31104","title":{"rendered":"July 18 Shopian Encounter: Army Says It\u2019s Investigating Matter After Social Media \u2018Inputs\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Srinagar<\/strong>: Army on Monday said it is \u201cinvestigating the matter\u201d as it \u201cnoted social media inputs linked to July 18 encounter at Shopian.\u201d The social media was abuzz after families of three \u201clabourers\u201d from Rajouri filed missing report with police, stating that they last called their kin on July 17 and that they informed them of having taken a rented accommodation at Shopian. Next day there was encounter in which security forces claimed killing of three unidentified militants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe have noted social media inputs linked to the operation at Shopian on 18 Jul 2020. The three Terrorists killed during the operation have not been identified and the bodies were buried based on established protocols,\u201d a defence ministry spokesman said in a statement issued to GNS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cArmy is investigating the matter,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, a senior police officer told GNS that if the families report to Shopian police station for bodies, legal formalities would be set into motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On July 18, police in a statement had said that three militants were killed in gunfight with joint team of police, army and CRPF in Shopian district on an input by army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOn a specific input by 62RR about presence of (militants) in village Amshipora area, an operation was launched by them in the area,\u201d a police spokesperson had said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During search, he had said, the militants fired upon Army and encounter started. \u201cLater on police and CRPF also joined. During encounter three unidentified militants were killed,\u201d he had said in the statement, adding, \u201cBodies of all the killed three (militants) were retrieved from the site of encounter.\u201d However, he said, the identification and group affiliation of the slain was being ascertained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIncriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other militancy-related incidents, he had said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe bodies have been sent to Baramulla for their last rites after conducting medico-legal formalities including collection of their DNA,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He had said a case FIR No. 42\/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Hirpora and investigation has been initiated into the matter.
