{"id":33721,"date":"2020-09-28T14:57:50","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T09:27:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/?p=33721"},"modified":"2020-09-28T14:57:50","modified_gmt":"2020-09-28T09:27:50","slug":"amishpora-encounter-three-questioned-for-role-as-informants-in-shopian-killing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=33721","title":{"rendered":"Amishpora Encounter: Three questioned for role as \u2018informants\u2019 in Shopian killing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>New Delhi<\/strong>: Three persons, who are said to have been working as informers for the Army, on Saturday deposed before the Army\u2019s Court of Inquiry, set up to probe the\u00a0July 18 encounter at Amshipora, Shopian, in which three labourers from Rajouri were killed and declared militants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Top sources in the administration told The Sunday Express that the three persons are \u201cthe last contacts of the three deceased\u201d and are being questioned for their role in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Rajouri-youth-killed-in-Shopian-Encounter_20200925-103705_1-1-1024x565.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-33650\"\/><figcaption>File Photo<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>On September 18, the Army had confirmed that identities of the three killed at Amshipora matched that of the missing labourers from Rajouri \u2014 Abrar Ahmed (25), Imtiyaz Ahmed (20) and Mohammed Ibrar (16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese suspects worked as informers for the Army,\u201d sources said, adding that there are preliminary indications \u201cof their involvement in the encounter. Their initial version was that a group of militants was supposed to come via the Rajouri-Poonch sector and the labourers had agreed to bring them to the civilian Army sources, who would then inform the Army about the infiltrators.\u201d However, the veracity of these claims and whether the three labourers ever agreed to such an arrangement is in question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The J&amp;K Police had earlier said that \u201cmilitant links\u201d of the three labourers are under investigation, however, sources said the claims made by the \u201carmy sources\u201d will be verified when they are officially handed over to the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>According to sources, of the three cousins \u2014 Abrar, Imtiyaz and Ibrar \u2014 from Rajouri who were killed in the July 18 encounter, one had been in Kashmir for a month and the other two joined him later. \u201cThe factual position of the claims being made by the sources will be explored by the police,\u201d sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>IG (Kashmir Zone) J&amp;K Police, Vijay Kumar had on Friday confirmed that the\u00a0DNA samples of the three labourers\u00a0from Rajouri have matched those of their families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Indian Express<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi: Three persons, who are said to have been working as informers for the Army, on Saturday deposed before the Army\u2019s Court of Inquiry, set up to probe the\u00a0July 18 encounter at Amshipora, Shopian, in which three labourers from Rajouri were killed and declared militants.
