{"id":35348,"date":"2020-12-12T20:05:37","date_gmt":"2020-12-12T14:35:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/?p=35348"},"modified":"2020-12-12T20:05:37","modified_gmt":"2020-12-12T14:35:37","slug":"smc-says-it-cleared-snow-off-roads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=35348","title":{"rendered":"SMC says it cleared snow off roads"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Srinagar:<\/strong>\u00a0The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Saturday successfully cleared snow off the\u00a0 roads on all important stretches running through the city and connecting important\u00a0 destinations, with special focus on the roads leading to hospitals, religious places and the government offices, a spokesperson of SMC in a statement to news agency KINS said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The statement said that services of 3000 sanitation workers were utilised for\u00a0 clearance of snow from lanes, bylanes , pavements, hospitals,\u00a0 Ration Ghats, electric water supply stations, religious\u00a0 places, government departments\u00a0 and other vital places on priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCommissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali\u00a0 along with SMC officers\u00a0 toured several areas in the uptown and the old city and took on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing clearance drive. Snow was cleared from religious places\u00a0 including Hazratbal, Khanyar, Naqshband Sahib, Makhdoom Sahib , ChatiPadshai, other Gurudwara\u2019s , mosques , Imambaras and shrines,\u201d it says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The statement says that Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the swift removal of snow from the main\u00a0 stretches in a drive that started early morning\u00a0 from all the areas including LalChowk, Habba Kadal,MA Road,\u00a0 Hassanabad, SafaKadal,\u00a0 Harisingh High Street, Zero Bridge,DC office,\u00a0\u00a0 Secretariat road ,Naalimar road, Qamarwari,\u00a0 Noorbagh etc.<br \/>\u201cSnow was cleared from all the hospitals as well\u00a0 including LD hospital, Gousia Hospital, SMHS ,\u00a0 SKIMS, Bone and Joints Hospital, Psychiatric hospital etc,\u201d it reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAli said most of the city lanes have been\u00a0 cleared by the SMC staff and many machines are on the job to ensure no resident\u00a0 faces any inconvenience due to snow accumulation.\u00a0 He said the immediate priority was to ensure all roads leading to hospitals and religious places, including shrines and gurdwaras, are cleared for movement of people and traffic. The important Lal Chowk-Airport Road was also attended to early in the morning.
