{"id":38795,"date":"2021-06-19T22:15:58","date_gmt":"2021-06-19T16:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/?p=38795"},"modified":"2021-06-19T22:15:58","modified_gmt":"2021-06-19T16:45:58","slug":"covid-19-will-threaten-humanity-for-years-to-come-a-leading-expert-warns-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=38795","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19 will threaten humanity for years to come, a leading expert warns"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong><em>WHO expert Dr. David Nabarro says SARS-CoV-2 has a game plan for survival, we need to get ready to fight<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em>COVID-19 will threaten humanity for years to come, according to Dr. David Nabarro, the WHO\u2019s special envoy on COVID-19<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>COVID-19 vaccines alone will not be enough, because SARS-CoV-2 will mutate to overpower the protections offered by the current vaccines, becoming an \u201cever present threat,\u201d according to Dr. David Nabarro.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis isn\u2019t going to be a disease that can be eradicated any time soon. Indeed, it may not be possible to eradicate it at all, because, by constantly mutating, the virus is indicating its game plan for survival,\u201d he told the Evening Standard.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cRather than talking about defeating the pandemic, why don\u2019t we talk about being ready for COVID. And being ready for COVID means being able to defend against the virus when it starts to appear in a community with a spike of disease.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Nabarro says those defenses should be a mix of vaccinations, hygiene practices, mask-wearing, physical distancing and test, trace and isolate programs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese things have to be brought together into a system, but it\u2019s not going to be vaccination alone that\u2019s going to solve the problem.
