{"id":4943,"date":"2016-09-25T09:57:12","date_gmt":"2016-09-25T04:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kashmir.today\/?p=4943"},"modified":"2016-09-25T09:57:12","modified_gmt":"2016-09-25T04:27:12","slug":"swaraj-arrives-new-york-address-un-general-assembly-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=4943","title":{"rendered":"Swaraj arrives in New York, to address UN General Assembly tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj arrived here to address the 71<sup>st<\/sup> session of the UN General Assembly, with all eyes and ears set on her speech tomorrow, which is expected to give a stinging response to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif\u2019s \u201ctirade\u201d on Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>Swaraj arrived on Saturday afternoon and will address the UN General Debate on Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeading India\u2019s delegation to the 71<sup>st<\/sup> UNGA. EAM @SushmaSwaraj arrives in New York,\u201d Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in a tweet.<\/p>\n<p>Swaraj is expected to give a stinging response to Sharif\u2019s UNGA speech, in which he had focused elaborately on Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s strong Right of Reply to his speech called Pakistan home to the \u201cIvy League of Terrorism\u201d and a \u201cterrorist state\u201d that commits \u201cwar crimes\u201d by using terrorism as an instrument of state policy.<\/p>\n<p>Outlining India\u2019s focus for the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, New Delhi\u2019s envoy to the UN Syed Akbaruddin had said that terrorism is the \u201cprimary concern\u201d for India as well as for nations across the world.<\/p>\n<p>He listed reform of the UN Security Council, sustainable development, climate change and peacekeeping as other priorities for India in the current UNGA session.<\/p>\n<p>Swarup told reporters here on September 23 that \u201cthe whole world and the entire nation\u201d is waiting to hear from Swaraj who will deliver India\u2019s \u201cvision document\u201d for the 71<sup>st<\/sup> UNGA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are all looking forward to that,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n<p>He, however did not elaborate on elements of Swaraj\u2019s address but said \u201cthe whole world and the entire country is waiting to hear what the external affairs minister has to say but I think the broad themes that Akbaruddin has outlined are definitely going to be a part of our presentation at this most important forum in the international community\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Swarup said one can also expect \u201ca continued focus from India on the theme of terrorism which is today undoubtedly the single biggest challenge to international peace and security\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Exercising the Right of Reply to Sharif\u2019s \u201clong tirade\u201d about the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, First Secretary in the Permanent Mission of India to the UN Eenam Gambler had said, \u201cthe worst violation of human rights is terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen practiced as an instrument of state policy it is a war crime.
