{"id":50511,"date":"2022-02-07T21:30:41","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T16:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/militant-killed-in-awantipora-encounter\/"},"modified":"2022-02-07T21:30:41","modified_gmt":"2022-02-07T16:00:41","slug":"militant-killed-in-awantipora-encounter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=50511","title":{"rendered":"Militant killed in Awantipora encounter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Pulwama, Feb 07:<\/em><\/strong> A local militant was killed in an encounter between the forces and militants in Nambal area of Awantipora in South Kashmir\u2019s Pulwama district, officials said on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A senior police officer told the news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an unidentified militant was killed while as search is on in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight. \u201cIn the ensuing gunfight, one militant was killed,\u201d the official said, adding that the slain has been identified as Irfan Ahmed Sheikh son of Abdur Rashid Sheikh, a resident of Karimabad, Pulwama. \u201cHe has been missing since January 17, 2022,\u201d the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is pertinent to mention here that 23 militants have been killed in 14 encounters in Kashmir valley this year so far\u2014(KNO)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pulwama, Feb 07: A local militant was killed in an encounter between the forces and militants in Nambal area of Awantipora in South Kashmir\u2019s Pulwama district, officials said on Monday.
