{"id":51251,"date":"2022-05-17T21:23:19","date_gmt":"2022-05-17T15:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/world-hypertension-day-every-other-person-in-jk-suffering-from-silent-killer\/"},"modified":"2022-05-17T21:23:19","modified_gmt":"2022-05-17T15:53:19","slug":"world-hypertension-day-every-other-person-in-jk-suffering-from-silent-killer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=51251","title":{"rendered":"World hypertension day: \u2018Every other person in J&amp;K suffering from silent killer\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Taking anti BP medicine at bed time will prevent brain strokes, heart attacks: Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan, advocates separate hypertension clinics in hospitals<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Srinagar, May 17:<\/strong> Hypertension is a silent killer and around half of the population in J&amp;K is hypertensive but most of them are unaware about it, Dr Nisar ul Hassan said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Nisar who is also president of Doctors Association of Kashmir told news agency\u2014Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that almost every other person in J&amp;K is hypertensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that a blood pressure lowering pill at bedtime prevents heart attacks and strokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Dr Nisar, hypertension is one of the common diseases in J&amp;K and there is a need to have separate hypertension clinics at tertiary care hospitals besides district hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He suggested patients with high blood pressure need to relax for a few minutes and it is not possible in general ward or OPD. So, separate hypertension clinics are needed, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Nisar said that it is a myth that everyone suffering from a headache is a hypertension patient. \u201cBut truth is that hypertension is invariably a silent disease and population based screening is vital.
