{"id":52073,"date":"2022-09-12T08:49:10","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T03:19:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kashmir.today\/dont-want-to-enter-politics-in-prevailing-terrified-atmosphere-iltija-mufti\/"},"modified":"2022-09-12T08:49:10","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T03:19:10","slug":"dont-want-to-enter-politics-in-prevailing-terrified-atmosphere-iltija-mufti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=52073","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t want to enter politics in prevailing terrified atmosphere: Iltija Mufti"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Jammu:<\/em><\/strong> Asserting that she has no attraction for politics and media gaze, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti\u2019s daughter Iltija Mufti on Sunday said she did not want to take a plunge into politics under the prevailing \u201cterrified\u201d atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.<br \/>However, she did not completely rule out joining politics and said situations do come in one\u2019s life which give direction as nobody knows the future.<br \/>\u201c\u2026In the current atmosphere where the politicians have become journalists and the latter stenographers, I do not want to do politics in such an atmosphere. Politics is about building your relationship with the public. Certain situations come in your life (which guide you),\u201d Iltija Mufti said at a conclave here.<br \/>She said she had seen politics from close quarters since her birth, being the granddaughter of PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. \u201cFor other people, it might be attractive\u2026I have no attraction for it.\u201d<br \/>Referring to her statements after the detention of her mother under the Public Safety Act (PSA) following the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into Union territories in August 2019, she said, \u201cI came forward and started talking because of a vacuum, otherwise I would not have as I have no glamour for both politics and camera.\u201d<br \/>Iltija said it was her responsibility at that time and she had fulfilled that. \u201cWhat is stored for me for the future, I do not know.\u201d<br \/>On the feedback of her fortnightly interactive session with people since May, a move which many viewed as an exercise before she takes the political plunge, she said the people are disappointed and feel broken in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370.<br \/>Alleging that Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into an \u201copen air prison\u201d, Iltija said, \u201cWe do not have the civil rights and liberties.\u201d<br \/>\u201cThey want to disempower the people.
