Srinagar: <\/b>State Congress leaders have formally informed party vice president Rahul Gandhi, about the alleged betrayal of its coalition partner, National Conference (NC) during the recently held election in the Jammu-Poonch parliamentary seat.<\/span><\/div>\n
The election on the said seat was held on April 10, and some local Congress leaders are alleging that NC voters did not use their right to franchise in favour of the coalition candidate, Madan Lal Sharma.<\/span><\/div>\n
Sources in the Congress party told Kashmir Life that after receiving the complaint from many quarters, the state congress leaders on Friday formally informed Rahul about the development.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cRahul was also informed how the valley based congress workers are now asking about the NC betrayal in Jammu-Poonch constituency,\u201d they said, adding, \u201cCongress High Command has also been informed in writing.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Meanwhile, the allegation of the Congress leaders and workers particularly from Rajouri and Poonch districts has crossed over to valley and the coalition partners are apparently in a fresh controversy.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThis was evident during an election committee meeting held in Srinagar on Friday,\u201d sources said, adding, \u201calmost all the members of the NC were present in the meeting but there was only one Muzaffar Parray, district president Srinagar and a couple of workers from Congress to represent the coalition the party.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
Pertinently, Nasir Aslam Wani, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mustafa Kamal, Ab Rahim Rather, Mubarak Gul and almost all the district presidents of NC were present in the meeting.<\/span><\/div>\n
Denying any controversy within the coalition, a National Conference leader on the condition of anonymity told Kashmir Life that almost all the Congress leaders were busy in Jammu so they could not come to attend the meeting. \u201cThe Congress leaders were in Jammu, busy in connection with the Rahul Gandhi\u2019s visit so they could not come to attend the meeting,\u201d NC leader said and added, \u201cThere is nothing like what is being circulated in the media.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n
According to sources in the Congress, local NC leaders and workers in the Rajouri and Poonch districts did not put in their \u2018sincere efforts\u2019 to garner support for the coalition candidate, Madan Lal Sharma and a major chunk of the NC votes went in favour of the other parties.<\/span><\/div>\n
Nothing is being said officially from NC or Congress about the latest development within the coalition, however, sources informed that both the sides do not want the issue to be raised to such a level where it can affect the valley based cadres of the coalition partners.<\/span><\/div>\n
Meanwhile the \u2018battle\u2019 has set its foot in social media, particularly facebook, where Congress and National Conference workers and supporters are accusing and alleging each other of the latest events in Jammu parts.<\/span><\/div>\n
