{"id":5489,"date":"2016-10-03T17:46:03","date_gmt":"2016-10-03T12:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kashmir.today\/?p=5489"},"modified":"2016-10-03T17:46:03","modified_gmt":"2016-10-03T12:16:03","slug":"kashmiri-working-journalists-road-ban-kashmir-reader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=5489","title":{"rendered":"Kashmiri Working Journalists on Road against Ban on Kashmir Reader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Srinagar:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>A day after government imposed a ban on local daily <em>Kashmir Reader<\/em>, Kashmir media mainly consisting of working journalists came out on road and demanded immediate revocation of the government order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ban is simply an attempt to muzzle the Kashmir media,\u201d a senior journalist part of the protest said. \u201cGovernment can\u2019t silence the media like this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After registering protest in Srinagar\u2019s Press Enclave, the journalists holding a placard \u201cReturn of Dark Age\u201d marched on Residential Raid to protest in front of Directorate of Information office in Polo View.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, in a written order yesterday, the government conveyed to owner of the<em>Kashmir Reader<\/em> to stop publication immediately. It cited that the daily was \u201cincited violence\u201d in Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>When last checked in, the scribes had observed a silent sit-in before the locked down gates of Directorate office.
