{"id":561,"date":"2014-02-26T12:19:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T12:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kashmir-today.net\/in-jk-137-ventilators-for-1-25-crore-people\/"},"modified":"2014-02-26T12:19:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-26T12:19:00","slug":"in-jk-137-ventilators-for-1-25-crore-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=561","title":{"rendered":"In J&#038;K, 137 ventilators for 1.25 crore people"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<div><b style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;\">Jammu: <\/b><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;\">Only 137 ventilators are available for a population of more than 1.25 crore in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Government said in the Legislative Council here.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%;\">Replying to a query by Congress legislator Muzaffar Ahmad Parray, Minister for Medical Education Taj Mohiddin informed the House that there were a total of 137 ventilators available across different hospitals, including Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) and government medical colleges of Jammu and Srinagar.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%;\">\u201cIn Government Medical College, Jammu, and associated hospitals, 19 ventilators are available, whereas in Government Medical College, Srinagar, and associated hospitals 46 ventilators are available,\u201d Taj said.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%;\">\u201cIn district and sub district hospitals and other health institutions of the Jammu region, there are 34 ventilators, whereas in<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%;\">district and sub district hospitals and other health institutions in Srinagar there are 16 ventilators. In SKIMS, Soura, there are 22 ventilators,\u201d he added.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%;\">The Minister, however, didn\u2019t mention how many of these ventilators were in working condition.<\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 115%;\">In a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) application, the authorities at GMC, Jammu, had stated that only three ventilators were in working condition and rest of them were non-functional for past three years.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jammu: Only 137 ventilators are available for a population of more than 1.25 crore in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Government said in the Legislative Council here.
