It is direct religious interference,\u201d Mufti Bashir-u-Din told KNS.<br \/>\nHe added that government has no authority to challenge or change the Sharait law.<br \/>\n\u201cThe action of Government of India is highly condemnable. It can have serious consequences,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nThe centre is opposed to the Muslim practice of triple talaq, it has informed the Supreme Court, describing it as &#8220;misplaced in a secular country.&#8221;<br \/>\nIn a 1985 judgment, the Supreme Court granted divorcee, Shah Bano, alimony for life.
