Students submit representations, citing reasons, to demand deferment of exams till March 2017<\/em><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Srinagar:<\/strong><\/em> A day after Board of School Education authorities said that it is ready to listen to the \u201cgenuine grievances and demands\u201d of students, scores of students Monday submitted representations in BOSE, urging it defer planned exams till March 2017.
\nThe students have cited various reasons in their representations, for seeking deferment of examinations for class 10 and class 12.
\n\u201cIt is not only passing of examinations that we are studying for. We want to attain education and knowledge, clear basic concepts of the particular topics, that will help us in higher classes to understand advanced chapters,\u201d reads one of the representations, submitted by one of the student groups.
\nAnother group of students told KNS that they also visited BOSE office today to submit a representation. \u201cWe didn\u2019t find there anyone. We will visit it again tomorrow to submit it,\u201d they said.
\nStudents, in their representation have mentioned that \u201cConcession is not solution as it would only reduce number of topics to be covered for examination. However, in contemporary world, the real power lies in having clear concept of basics. Therefore, students should be given more time, till March 2017, so that they would attain knowledge and will sit in examination in March without any hesitation.\u201d
\nAnother group of students have urged BOSE authorities to consider the fate of those students who are presently lodged in various police stations or detained under public safety act.
\n\u201cYou (BOSE authorities) are aware about the prevailing situation. You know that hundreds of school going children, including students of class 12 and class 10 have been maimed and blinded in forces action,\u201d it reads.
\n\u201cIt is in the interest of students at large that you defer exams till March 2017 so that those injured students have time to recover from injuries and sit in exams while those in different jails could get bail from courts,\u201d it adds.
\nBOSE chairman didn\u2019t respond to the repeated calls to have comments on the matter.
\nHowever, one of the officials, wished not to be named, said he was unaware about submission of any representation by the students.
