{"id":657,"date":"2014-02-20T12:19:00","date_gmt":"2014-02-20T12:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kashmir-today.net\/pakistan-ready-to-consider-independent-status-of-kashmir-pak-pres\/"},"modified":"2014-02-20T12:19:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-20T12:19:00","slug":"pakistan-ready-to-consider-independent-status-of-kashmir-pak-pres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=657","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan ready to consider Independent status of Kashmir: PaK Pres."},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kashmir.watch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Sardar-Yaqoob-Khan_kashmiris-on-both-sides-of-loc-want-freedom.jpg\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/kashmir.watch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Sardar-Yaqoob-Khan_kashmiris-on-both-sides-of-loc-want-freedom.jpg\" height=\"240\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><b>SRINAGAR:<\/b> Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan has hinted that Pakistan was ready to talk with India on the option of carving out an independent state of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready to consider the option, if India comes to the negotiating table and puts forward the idea of giving Kashmir independent status,\u201d PaK president remarked in what appears to be a major policy shift.<\/p>\n<p>The Pakistani media reports said that the option of an independent state of Jammu and Kashmir had always been a contentious issue amongst the Kashmiris themselves and in India and Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The PaK president is quoted as saying that Pakistan was sincere in wanting to resolve the Kashmir issue. \u201cThese things (discussing options) are only possible when India comes to the negotiating table and admits that Kashmir is a disputed territory,\u201d he added. &nbsp;\u201cIf India agrees to give Kashmir an independence status, we can also think (along these lines),\u201d PaK President was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>To a question about the possibility of the BJP coming to power in India and its impact on the Kashmir issue, the PaK president said he was more hopeful of a resolution to the issue with the BJP in power. \u201cCongress has never shown any seriousness (to resolve the issue),\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>He said once NATO forces begin drawing back from Afghanistan, the Kashmir issue will once again become important.
