{"id":7152,"date":"2016-11-05T16:09:39","date_gmt":"2016-11-05T10:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kashmir.today\/?p=7152"},"modified":"2016-11-05T16:09:39","modified_gmt":"2016-11-05T10:39:39","slug":"militant-killed-shopian-joined-hizb-snatching-weapon-month-ago-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=7152","title":{"rendered":"Militant killed in Shopian had joined Hizb after snatching weapon a month ago: Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Srinagar:<\/strong> Police on Saturday identified the militant killed in an encounter with government forces in south Kashmir\u2019s Shopian district as Waseem Ahmad Khanday.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"floatlft story\">\n<div class=\"Storyleft\">\n<div id=\"ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_storyContainer\">\n<p><em>An official said that Khanday had joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen over a month ago after snatching a rifle from the residence of Communist party leader Abdul Rehman Tukroo in the district.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>He said that the encounter broke out after forces launched a search operation in Dobjan village &#8211; 60 kms from Srinagar \u2013 following inputs about presence of four militants there.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>He said as the security forces moved to the target house, hiding militants resorted to firing in an attempt to break the cordon, triggering an encounter.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>One militant was killed and a soldier injured, the official said, adding that the three militants managed to escape.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The deceased was a resident of Zarkan Kellar village of Shopian.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The official said that the weapon he had snatched was recovered from his possession.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Srinagar: Police on Saturday identified the militant killed in an encounter with government forces in south Kashmir\u2019s Shopian district as Waseem Ahmad Khanday.
