Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNS): <\/span><\/b>The High Court has granted interim bail to Shabir Khan, former minister of state for health who had to quit his ministry after a female medico lodged a molestation complaint against him.<\/span><\/div>\n
According to KNS court correspondent, Justice J R Kotwal after hearing the matter asked Khan\u2019s counsel to produce his client before the police station Shaheed Gunj on Thursday and in case the police deems his detention necessary, Khan be released after furnishing a bail bond to the tune of Rs 25,000.<\/span><\/div>\n
The court has also restricted Khan\u2019s movement outside Srinagar. \u201cAs per court directions Khan cannot leave the Srinagar city before seeking permission of Investigating Officer and he cannot leave the state before the next date of hearing in the matter,\u201d sources in the court told KNS.<\/span><\/div>\n
Khan is evading arrest following registration of a criminal complaint against him on February 6. Authorities have already deputed a police team to Jammu where they raided many a places to nail Khan but to no avail.<\/span><\/div>\n
A case was registered by the police under Sec 354 RPC (assault or criminal force on a woman with the intention to outrage her modesty) and Section 509 RPC (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman).<\/span><\/div>\n
Khan, an MLA from Rajouri, was initially MoS power, then forest, labour and employment. Last January, he was given independent charge of health. His request that a bail application be allowed to be filed before a bench in Jammu was on February 7 turned down by the chief justice of the High Court in Jammu.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
