{"id":8506,"date":"2017-01-07T11:01:00","date_gmt":"2017-01-07T05:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kashmir.today\/?p=8506"},"modified":"2017-01-07T11:01:00","modified_gmt":"2017-01-07T05:31:00","slug":"hc-rejects-payals-appeal-govt-house-security-ground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kashmir.watch\/?p=8506","title":{"rendered":"HC rejects Payal\u2019s appeal for govt house on security ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>New Delhi:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em>The Delhi High Court today dismissed the plea of Payal Abdullah, estranged wife of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, for government housing on security ground, saying that if her husband can shift to a private accommodation there is no reason to treat her differently.\u201cWhen Omar Abdullah himself has shifted to a private accommodation, there is no reason why the appellants (Payal and her sons) should be treated differently. We do not see any merit in the appeal. The same is dismissed,\u201d a bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice V K Rao said.By its judgment, the court upheld the single judge\u2019s August 19, 2016, order asking her to vacate the 7, Akbar Road bungalow in Lutyen\u2019s Delhi, where she and her sons were residing.Payal and her sons had appealed for government accommodation on the ground that they enjoyed \u2018Z\u2019 and \u2018Z plus\u2019 security status, respectively.The division bench noted that as per the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), there was no immediate threat to them and this \u201ccannot be questioned\u201d as even the single judge had concluded that there was only a general threat perception regarding them.The court rejected as \u201cnot sustainable\u201d Payal\u2019s plea that she and her sons were being discriminated against as some other persons \u2014 KPS Gill and Subramanian Swamy \u2014 had been given government accommodation on the basis of their security status.
