The festival began with puja in the evening and continued throughout night.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The festival marking the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Uma is celebrated as Hairath by the Kashmiri Pandits on the 13th day of the dark half of the month Phalguna.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0 The festivities begin on the first day of Phalguna Krishna Paksha and last till Amavasya. The festival also includes cultural activities. Though it is a Hindu festival, people of different religions celebrate Hairath together in Kashmir. It is an occasion to meet each other as a part of an informal gathering irrespective of caste and creed. The festival acts a bridge between people of different religions to come together,\u201d said a Kashmiri Pandit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u00a0 In Jammu different NGO\u2019s including Global Mother Heritage distributed food stuff and other materials among Kashmiri Pandits. Kasmiri Pandit and senior political leader Sanjay Saraf told CNS that they distributed famous vegetables of Kashmir including Nadroo among Pandits.
