Srinagar: Terming RSS more dangerous than Hitler’s Natzi, Senior Congress leader Tariq Hameed Karra Wednesday appealed People particularly Youth to help him stop PDP facilitated RSS march to Valley.
Addressing a gathering of party workers from Srinagar Parliamentary constituency Karra clarified that today’s vote was not in favour of Dr. Farooq Abdullah or Ghulam Ahmad Mir but a referendum against PDP-BJP’s ‘unholy’ alliance.
In a statement to KNS, former MP said that safeguarding his religion and nation from anti- Muslim aggression of anti- Muslim forces was his top most priority which compelled him to do away his parliament seat and resign from PDP. He said from the very beginning of this unholy alliance, he could foresee what the RSS backed BJP was up to, but unfortunately nobody paid heed to his suggestions and warnings.
According to Karra it was the unabated torture on youth by way of killing, blinding, maiming and spilling over their blood all over, that triggered pain in his heart and soul and guided him to take a tough decision to save the children from the clutches of Natzi like political forces.
Karra said that going against the tide at a time when the so called ruling political leadership in the state had collapsed and surrendered before the communal, anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmir forces was a huge risk but without caring for anything that was possibly impending, he listened to his conscious to give international community at least an idea of what was happening in his motherland.
Karra regretted that he had co-founded a party that was supposed to heal the wounds of Kashmiris, had actually turned the same Kashmir into a virtual slaughter house.
The Congress leader cautioned that Kashmiris were going through a very tough time but said the resilient Kashmiris have to make a choice whether to go with anti- Kashmir and anti-Muslim forces or side with those who have stood up united to stop their religious, constitutional, ethnic and cultural ingression.
He further said that he can’t force anyone to come out for vote but can definitely leave it to the wisdom of the people who are sincere to Kashmir and Kashmiriyat that not coming out to vote would be to facilitate these fascist forces and their henchmen who manipulate these elections to their benefit.
He appealed to the youth of Srinagar and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies who think that casting a vote is a sin, that for a larger cause which is in the benefit of the nation and their religion even the smaller sin of casting their vote in favour of opposition candidates has become imperative otherwise a wrong message would travel at the national and international level that people of Kashmir have accepted and endorsed the anti-kashmir and anti-Muslim policies of RSs, to which PDP is playing a role of a collaborator and a facilitator. Sonam Lotus has good news for flood scared people
Flood of the magnitude of 2014 won’t arise
Srinagar: As flood scare looms over the Kashmir valley, weatherman has good news for the worried valleyites.
Director Meteorological (MeT) department Sonam Lotus told KNS that weather will likely improve from Friday and there will be marked decline in the intensity of rains from Thursday afternoon.
The weatherman had predicted heavy to moderate rains in the Valley for three days on Tuesday and had predicted improvement in the weather conditions from Friday evening.
Due to two-day rainfall across Kashmir, Jehlum and streams swelled with water and at some parts rainwater inundated some residential areas due to failure or absence of drainage system.
Meanwhile, Lotus also used his Facebook and informed that 2014 flood situation won’t arise.
Lotus posted on FB: “Since the morning of 4th April, most places of J&K has been receiving continuous moderate to heavy rain and snow (since today morning in Srinagar & surrounding areas). As expected, higher reaches received heavy snowfall with Gulmarg reporting 1 feet this morning and snow in whole Ladakh region.
“Snow in April in plains of Kashmir is not a frequent or annual phenomena but not unusual either as on earlier occasion also there has been snow in April-May as well.
“Rainfall for continuous 2-3 days brings down the temperature and this led to snow in plains.
Weather Outlook for next 1 week: Gradual decrease in rain/snow from today and significant improvement from 7th (occasional light rain on 7th can’t be ruled out).
“The weather system still persists over J&K and is moving towards East North East of Srinagar. It is still raining in most parts of the state but here has been gradual decrease in rain/snow from this afternoon. There will be significant improvement in weather from tomorrow Friday 7th April.
Weather Watch: It is observed on earlier occasion also that rainfall for continuous 2 days (48hrs) usually leads to inundation of low lying area, waterlogging etc. in Kashmir valley obviously due to nature of topograph, land use, etc.
“Since the system is weakening, a flood of the magnitude of 2014 won’t arise. So please keep cool, be vigilant and stay safe and dont get panicked. If God is with us who can be against us..! Best wishes to all.. For all weather realted info. pls. contact our office 0194-2430112, 9419376737

Entire Jammu Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan, belongs to India: Sushma Swaraj
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday slammed Pakistan’s move to declare Gilgit-Baltistan as its fifth province and said the whole of Jammu and Kashmir, including areas under Pakistan’s control, is an Indian territory.
The minister’s response came in the Lok Sabha after the issue was raised by Biju Janata Dal member Bhartruhari Mahtab during Zero Hour.
Mahtab questioned the government response to Pakistan’s move, and said both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha should pass a resolution to condemn the development.
“The Pakistan government has unilaterally decided to declare Gilgit-Baltistan as its fifth province. At the time of Partition, a British political agent in charge of Gilgit and Baltistan allowed Pakistani soldiers to take over the area, even though Indian Constitution recognises Gilgit-Baltistan as an integral part of our country,” Mahtab said.
He said the British Parliament had recently passed a resolution to condemn Islamabad’s move, saying the region is part of Jammu and Kashmir, and illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947.
In response, Sushma Swaraj said India rejects Pakistan’s move, and added that the government’s stand on Jammu and Kashmir being an integral part of India should not be doubted.“You saw Pakistan’s move, but didn’t see what we have done. Without losing time, we rejected it, and both the houses of Parliament have said that the entire Jammu and Kashmir, including Pakistan-occupied areas, is ours,” the External Affairs Minister said.
“This government has always said that Kashmir, where (Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad) Mookerjee was martyred, is ours. There should be no doubt,” she said.
In a separate written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on the issue, Minister of State for External Affairs V.K. Singh said that any attempt to alter the status of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan-administered Kashmir is completely unacceptable.
“The government has seen reports that a committee headed by Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan has recommended that the so-called ‘Gilgit-Baltistan’ area of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is under illegal occupation of Pakistan, be given ‘provisional provincial status’,” V.K. Singh stated.
“It is our consistent position that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Any action to alter the status of any part of the territory under the illegal and forcible occupation of Pakistan has no legal basis whatsoever and is completely unacceptable,” he said. (IANS)

Kashmir University Cafeteria Sealed for Overcharging
Srinagar: Authorities at Kashmir University have sealed the main cafeteria of Varsity for offering meals to students at exorbitant rates, a move hailed by both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Reports said that a group of Varsity students created a scene inside the cafeteria after they asked the owner to keep the rate list on display. Acting upon the complaints of students, authorities investigated the matter and accordingly sealed the cafeteria. “There are cafeterias in every University which offer meals to students at cheaper rates but here in Kashmir University the case was otherwise. For a simple cup of tea, you had to pay Rs 20 and besides you are forced to consume Kabab, kanti and chicken as rice and vegetables are not in the menu of the cafeteria owner,” a student said.
This cafeteria is run by an individual from past 15 years though authorities at University are supposed to float tenders to handover the cafeteria to the highest bidder. “The irony is that the cafeteria owner has renovated the canteen on his own and whatever he has spent on the renovation is getting deducted from the rent he is supposed to pay to University on monthly basis. University has to wait for further 10 years, if it wants to vacate him,” sources added. (CNS)
