  • Mohan Bhagwat’s claim speaks of India’s insecurity on Kashmir: Er. Rashid

‘RSS’s rhetoric of India being a Hindu nation, vindicates Jinnah’s two nation theory’

Srinagar: Rejecting RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s claims about J&K being India’s integral part, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rashid today said that there can be nothing more than this Himalayan lie.

According to AIP, while addressing various meetings in Handwara and adjoining areas, Er. Rashid said it needs not even to be told that J&K is not India’s integral part but disputed territory.

He said, “Mohan Bhagwat’s cries in Jammu that J&K being India’s integral part, speaks of India’s in security on its stand on Kashmir. May Bhagwat ask why he needs not to cry about any other part of India of being India’s integral part?

“Mohan Bhagwat’s claim of India being a Hindu nation, yet again vindicates stand of two nation theory and gives legitimacy to Ali Mohammad Jinnah’s deep desire for creation of Pakistan,” Er. Rasheed said.

He appealed Muslims and secular forces in India to fight the fascist agenda of RSS and other radical forces and reiterated that Kashmiris will never succumb before India’s might.

Er. Rasheed accused Mehbooba Mufti of providing a platform to RSS and other radical forces to abuse and defame Indian Muslims in general and Kashmiris in particular by entering into unholy alliance with BJP, despite knowing their notorious designs. (PTK)

“Probe by retired Supreme Court judge into Burhan killing must”
Srinagar: National Conference here on Monday dared senior PDP leader and Member Parliament to unravel the “conspiracy” which according to him was hatched to overthrow Mehbooba government and has sought a judicial probe into Burhan’s killing by a supreme court judge to identify the guilty and punish them.

The conspiracy concerns the security of the State and the survival of democratic institutions”.
Saying the Baig being a top leader of the ruling party and representative of the people in the highest law making body (parliament) of the country should reveal all about the said conspiracy in the broader interests of the security of the State, Akbar Lone said the conspiracy once unraveled by Baig should be probed by a retired Supreme Court judge to identify the guilty and punish them. • Mohan Bhagwat’s threats to Kashmiris childish: Yasin Malik

PDP and RSS Meetings in Kashmir and Jammu and Similar Rhetoric of Both Against the Resistance Camp a Clear indication of The nexus Between Nagpur and PDP

Srinagar: Terming the timing of RSS and PDP meetings as ‘dubious’, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin malik on Monday said that PDP and RSS meetings in Kashmir and Jammu and similar rhetoric of both against the resistance camp are a clear indication of the nexus between Nagpur and PDP.

Terming Mohan Bhagwat’s threats to Kashmiris as childish, Malik in a statement issued to Kashmir Today said that Bhagwat should know that right from 1947 especially after the illegal military occupation by India, people of Jammu Kashmir have been witnessing and tolerating oppression and torture of India but have not surrendered before the forces of darkness and tyranny .

He said that Bhagwat should read history carefully and he will surely come to know that oppression, military might and forceful suppression of people’s voices have not succeeded in defeating the freedom movements of tiny oppressed nations.
“If defeating oppressed nations would have been possible no nation including India would have achieved its freedom from outside occupation,” asserted Malik.
Malik said that it was RSS chauvinist mindset that massacred lakhs of Muslims at Jammu in 1947 but massacre and oppressive acts like that could not eradicate the passion for freedom from the hearts and minds of people in Jammu Kashmir and till date this aspiration is alive and will keep so till the achievement of the desired goal.
Terming the frequent visits and programs of RSS like chauvinist forces in Jammu, Pirpanjal and Chenab as ‘a conspiracy to intimidate Jammu region Muslims’, Malik said that PDP led regime by allowing and facilitating hateful politics and fascism are playing with fire and this deceptive politics will yield them nothing but shame.
Terming the meeting of PDP in Kashmir on the same day when RSS was threatening Kashmiris from Jammu as clear indication of ugly nexus between PDP and RSS, Jailed JKLF chairman said that ironically both meetings chose to threat and malign resistance of Kashmiris.
He said that it is not the resistance and acts of resistance in any form that are detrimental for Kashmiris but it is the deceitful politics of PDP like organizations that is harmful to the interests of Kashmiris.
Malik said that PDP leaders claim that martyrdom of Burhan Wani was a conspiracy to dethrone their rule but people ask them that who hatched this conspiracy. “They’re in the government, their chief minister holds the portfolio of home minster and has unleashed a reign of terror against Kashmiris since the martyrdom of Burhan Shaheed and it were their forces who martyred Burhan,” he said.
“Now if all that was a conspiracy then question arises that who hatched and implemented that conspiracy,” JKLF chief added.
Malik said that resistance and means of resistance were a boon for this nation as these assured our national life and respect. “It is not the resistance and acts of resistance that are detrimental to the cause of this nation but it is the hypocritical politics and dubious character of pro-India politicians and rulers that is hurting the interests of the people of Jammu Kashmir,” added Malik.
He said that “after the martyrdom of Burhan Wani it was PDP government that chose bullets and pellets to stop a people’s indigenous revolution and it was them whose bullets and pellets pierced the chests, heads and legs of hundreds of Kashmiris and are still hunting them.”
Malik said that slowly but steadily this duplicity of PDP like pro-India organizations , their nexus with anti-Kashmir, anti-Muslim fascist forces is getting uncovered and their real faces and ugly politics are getting exposed before the common people of Jammu Kashmir.

Meanwhile, nearly 95 per cent of class 12 students appeared in the examinations today, officials said.
They said that out of total 31964 students who were scheduled to appear in the examinations today, 30213 students sit in examinations at around 484 exam centres in the Valley.
Officials informed that the highest number of participation of students was witnessed in South Kashmir Anantnag district. “At least 96 per cent of class 12 students appeared in the examination in South Kashmir’s Anantnag today which was followed by central Kashmir’s Srinagar district where more than 94 per cent students appeared in the examinations,” they informed.

They said that huge contingent of forces were deployed in and around the exam centres. Officials informed KNS that no untoward incident occurred at any examination centre today.
Director General Police (Law & Order) Dr S.P Vaid when contacted told KNS “the examinations conducted today went incident free. At some examination center students had some issue but BOSE officials resolved issues very patiently in consultation with the students and the parents. We congratulate all particularly students, parents and the supervisory staff deployed for supervising the examination for their cooperation in the smooth conduct of examination”.
Meanwhile, the students who appeared in the examinations today appreciated the Board of School Education (BOSE) for announcing reduction in the syllabus today as according to them the government decision provided them a lot of assistance in today’s examinations. “. The question papers were set by the officials according to syllabus and it was quite easy paper today while the announcement of reduction in syllabus provided us a lot of assistance as due to the uprising in the Valley we had not completed our syllabus,” they said.
Asking about the security arrangements, the students said that security arrangements made by the government were quite well. The students said that officials from BOSE also visited the centres who also instructed them during the exams.
However, some of the students termed the reduction in syllabus as ‘false’ and said that the question paper was set by the authorities like previous year’s paper.
Pertinently, the students were taking to streets against the government decision of holding examination in this year and were demanding deferment of exams.
Besides, students the mainstream opposition parties were also demanding deferment of exams till the students won’t complete their syllabus.
Notably, the students of class 10 are scheduled to appear in the exams on Tuesday.
Officials said that the adequate security arrangements will also be made on Tuesday to ensure smooth conduct of exams. (KNS)

  • For the sake of TRPs news channels paint Kashmir black: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday lashed out at some television news channels for bringing a bad name to the Kashmir Valley in their race for TRP ratings.

Speaking at an Asian Development Bank function in Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti said: “The role of these news channels has not been positive at all during the present unrest in the Valley. They get some guests from Pakistan and also some from our country, including Kashmir, on their TV shows and for 24 hours they exhibit anger.”

“It hurts to see what they say… Nobody talks about the local youth saving army soldiers from a truck that met an accident. Nobody shows how a shikarawallah gave his life saving tourists,” the Chief Minister said.

She added that the Kashmir Valley is such a show window that most tourists would love to come here simply to see the breathtaking beauty of the place.

“Ladakh has a population of just 1.25 lakh and this year there were two lakh visitors. Why can’t every home in the Valley have tourists as paying guests,” she said.
  • Tight security in place as board exams begin today

Srinagar: The annual board examinations scheduled to begin in Kashmir on Monday will be an acid test for the PDP-BJP coalition government which remained firm to hold examinations despite opposition from various quarters, including the student community.

All arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the examinations for classes 10 and 12 scheduled to start on November 14 and 15, respectively, officials said, allaying fears of any trouble or inconvenience to the students appearing.

“All arrangements are in place for over one lakh students scheduled to appear for the 10th and 12th class examinations. While 484 exam centres have been set up for about 48,000 candidates for class 12th examination across Kashmir division, as many as 550 exam centres have been established for 5,5000 candidates for class 10th examination,” an official of School Education department told PTI.

Schools in the Valley went on a two-week summer holiday on July 1 but could not resume functioning due to the unrest which was triggered by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani along with his two associates in an encounter with security forces in a village in Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on July 8.

The unrest has left 96 persons dead and thousands injured while hundreds of people including students were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) for participating in the protests.

The official decried the burning of schools, saying it should not have happened. At last 31 schools have been targeted by unknown persons since the unrest began in Kashmir on July 8.

The official said over 98 per cent of students have already collected their admit cards to appear in the examinations – an encouraging development attributed to the government decision to provide 50 per cent relaxation in syllabus.

The government has also decided to hold separate examination for class 10 and 12 in March next year if they fail to appear in already scheduled exams in November but the students have to attempt 100 per cent of the question paper.

For the first time, the school education department has categorized the examination centres into sensitive, hypertensive and normal categories given the apprehensions of law and order situation around exam centres.

Also, most of the exam centres were shifted from schools to new locations on basis of security inputs given by JK Police.

“We shifted most of the exam centres on basis of inputs given by JK Police. We changed the location of exam centres wherever we had apprehensions of law and order situation,” said Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Ajaz Ahmad Bhat.

He said holding exams was linked with 1.5 lakh students in Kashmir for which all the “preventive measures” have been taken by the government.

“Government will deploy ROPs on all the routes to enable students to reach their examination centres. Security arrangements will be made outside the exam centres throughout Kashmir,” Bhat said.

“We should not rely on protection of police for appearing in exams. Society should play a role as it is a student issue.”

Interestingly for the first time, government has appointed Magistrates for exam centres to handle the law and order situation.

“Government has appointed magistrates at cluster or zone level to handle the law and order situation around exam centres,” a senior official in administration said.

Meanwhile education offices shall remain open on November 14. According to an order issued by the Director School Education Kashmir, keeping in view the conduct of 10th and 12th class examinations commencing from 14 November 2016, the Directorate of School Education, Chief Education Offices and Zonal Education Offices in Kashmir valley shall remain open on 14th November 2016.

  • Demonization of Rs 500, Rs 1000 aftermath: “Valley traders suffer 70 per cent loss”

Srinagar: Days after Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced demonetization of Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes, the valley traders on Sunday said that they suffered around 70 per cent loss due to the recently taken decision by Modi led government in centre.

Talking to KNS, Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Khan said that the decision taken by PM Modi has badly affected the business in the Valley. “Majority of the people don’t have valid (new) currency notes thereby have been left to suffer. With such decision, the Valley traders have suffered at least 60-70 per cent loss in last couple of days,” Khan said.
“Instead of making such announcements in a very hurry rush, the Government of India (GoI) should have provided a sufficient time to the people so that they could have exchanged their currency notes in an ease manner. We all know that November month is peak time for business in Valley but the announcement by PM Modi in this month has left the traders to suffer huge loss,” he said.
Khan said that keeping in view of the uprising in the Valley during which people suffered huge loss, some among the shopkeepers were accepting old currency notes as a good will gesture. “It depends upon a thinking an individual whether he accepts old currency notes or not but some of the traders here were accepting the old currency notes keeping in view of the hardships suffered by the people in Kashmir during the ongoing uprising,” he added.
KEA chairman said that the state government should have approached Government of India (GoI) over the issue but unfortunately, they are in deep slumber.
President of Kashmir Traders and Manufactures Federation (KTMF), Bashir Ahmad Rather told KNS that the Valley is different from other states of India. “Most of the traders have no bank accounts thereby they have been left to lurch at large,” he said.
Rather said that the demonization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 has directly affected the business in the Valley. “The government in centre should have taken this decision in a proper manner so that the people who are suffering today could have been feeling a sigh of relief,” he said.
He said that despite tall claims of JK Bank authorities that they will provide relaxation to the loanee’s, the bank authorities are deducting the EMI’s of the traders who are visiting banks to exchange their money. “Thus, PM Modi’s decision is being operated for second purpose in the Valley,” he said.
Hilal Ahmad Mando, Chairman of Traders Federation Parimpora Fruit Mandi told KNS that the decision left thousands of Valley traders to suffer. “Demonization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 had bad impact on business in Kashmir. We have already suffered a loss due to uprising in the Valley and announcing such decisions at the same time added further hardships to the traders here,” he said.
He said that JK Bank authorities had announced that it will set up separate counters for the people to exchange their money but unfortunately, the claims proved hoax on ground as no separate counters have been arranged. “Besides, Bank authorities are providing no relaxation to the loanee’s. One who is visiting banks to exchange his money is being forced to pay his EMI’s, which he failed to pay due to the uprising in the Valley. If JK bank has announced relaxation to the loanee’s then it should stop harassing the loanee’s to pay EMI”s forcibly till the situation returns normal,” he said. (KNS)

  • Our alliance with BJP to find resolution of Kashmir issue: PDP

“Stakeholders need to sit together, fid way out”

Srinagar: Senior PDP leader and Education Minister, Naeem Akhter on Sunday said that his party forged an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to find a way out to resolve long pending Kashmir issue.
Talking to KNS on the sidelines of the party function here at PDP’s headquarter, Akhter said that “We entered into an alliance with BJP with the expectation and confidence of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi being most empowered PM. He would certainly find a way out for Kashmir as former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayye had tried earlier and succeeded to a great extend.”
He said, “Stake holders need to sit together and find a way out of this issue and that is what PDP is all about (doing).”
Akhter said that they expect the temperatures to come down because the Prime Minister had taken a bold step when he had gone to Lahore but unfortunately that was followed up by very negative developments.
He told reporters that they believe there is no substitute to dialogue and everybody understands that the dialogue at different levels, dialogue with local stakeholders at internal dimensions and external dimension should be held.
Referring to the query about present situation in Valley, Naeem said that situations are temporary, situations are passing, what is permanent is the agenda of a party, the philosophy of a party and the interests of the people.
He said that they will be series of workers meetings to reiterate their position on issues facing Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Naeem said that re-arrangements that are needed for the security of students and for giving them an atmosphere conducive to hold examinations in very peaceful circumstances.
