  • Shodah-i-Brigade brain child of HM: Syed Salahudin

‘HM can strike anywhere in India’
Srinagar: United Jehad Council chief Syed Salahudin Monday confirmed that ‘Shoidah-i-Brigade, the militant outfit responsible for Kathua twin attack is the brain child of Hizbul Mujahideen and this organization will continue to strike in different parts of Jammu region.

In an interview with Srinagar based news agency CNS, Salahudin said that different youth from Jammu region including Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Banihal and other parts are joining their newly established militant outfit ‘Shoidah-i-Brigade’ and it will continue to target security establishments in Jammu region. He said that the outfit was formed soon after the Gool incident in which innocent Muslim youth were butchered by Indian Security personnel.

“We are capable of striking anywhere in India and we believe that armed struggle is inevitable in the present context of Kashmir Freedom struggle. India has never responded to the peaceful movement that Kashmiri people launched from time to time and it is our firm belief that Gun is the only way to dislodge Indian Army from the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said adding Shoidah-i-Brigade is expanding its base in Rajouri, Poonch and Banihal.

He maintained that with regard to Kashmir issue, there is no difference between National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and United Progressive Alliance (UPA). “Whether it is Congress or BJP, Janta Dal or CPI(M), all parties pursue same policy with regard to Kashmir. To expect any positive results from NDA government or from Narendara Modi will be disastrous.  We must understand that all the Indian parties are anti-Kashmir particularly Narendra Modi who is the killer of innocent Muslims,” he said.

Syed Salahudin claimed that Kashmir issue was never discussed in any Indo-Pak ministerial level talks. “I am telling you with authority that Kashmir was never the subject during any Ministerial level talks between India and Pakistan as India always showed half-hearted willingness to discuss this vital issue and instead discussed the issues related to Siachen and Sir Creek,” he said adding that Pakistan continued to hold dialogue with India with a hope that it will one day agree to talk on Kashmir issue.

“These are talks only for the purpose of talks or to just keep the stakeholders engaged. It has brought no result in the past nor will it do so in the future. During the past six decades, hundreds of such exercises have been undertaken. But what is the result? The issue has to be resolved in a realistic way. India and Pakistan both have to agree that Kashmiris are the principle party to the dispute. Till they carry on bilateral dialogue, there will be no result just like it has happened in the past. There will be no breakthrough,” he said adding that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq after various interactions and photo sessions with Indian leadership himself admitted that it is meaningless to hold dialogue with the Government of India.

Salahuddin advised the Government of Pakistan not to repeat the mistake of putting Kashmir on the back burner and try to foster friendship with New Delhi through trade, cultural exchanges and tourism.

Responding to a query, Syed Salahudin said that he does not want to expose the ‘black-sheep’ present in different separatist organizations. “I am striving for unity amoung different separatist organizations and in this regard we are putting our efforts to make the plan successful. At this stage, it is not convenient to expose the black sheep that work for different Indian agencies. I appeal to different separatist organizations to show door to those elements who despite being their members work for the Indian agencies,” he said adding that an insider in the garb of a friend always prove more dangerous than an outsider who is a known foe.

“Geelani, Mirwaiz, Shabir Shah Yasin Malik and others pitch for election boycott but it would be convenient and fruitful for the ongoing freedom struggle if they all would appeal for election boycott using the same stage. No doubt, all these leaders are doing a marvelous job but it is unfortunate despite having the same cause, they use the different stages,” he said adding that time has come that Hurriyat leaders reach out to the people with united hand.

Salahudin alleged that whatever development takes place in Kashmir Valley is not meant for people but for Indian Army. “Zojila Tunnel will be constructed for the benefit of the Army as it will make their movement easy and same is the case with railway track that is going to be laid from Northern Headquarters to Uri,” he said adding that India is exploiting the resources in its own interest.

While replying to a question, Salahudin said that Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai is life-long friend of Syed Ali Geelani who could prove better successor of Geelani. “We pray for the better health of Geelani and pray to Almighty he leads the ongoing movement till it gets concluded. But in my opinion, if need arises, Seharai can prove a good successor of Geelani and he can deliver the goods,” he said adding that only the Shura has authority to elect the successor of Geelani.

Responding to a query Hizb Chief said that those who cast votes and support pro-India parties would certai

nly face wrath either from God or from any other source. (CNS)

  • Mufti changed the rules of the game in 1990 : Mattu

PDP wanted National Character yesterday, talks of Regional Character today: NC
‘Mehbooba never spoke up as MP, neither for Muslims of India, nor for Kashmiris’
Srinagar: National Conference Spokesman Junaid Mattu has said that National Conference is not an opportunistic bandwagon of individuals but a political movement and institution that bases its politics on the representation of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, unlike Mufti Sayeed who ran away and chose to be rehabilitated as a Member of Parliament from a safe seat in Uttar Pradesh when he couldn’t garner more than a few hundred votes in Kashmir.
Mattu said that it is immensely funny that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s daughter speaks about NC’s regional character given the fact that Mufti Sayeed, in all his political manifestations all his life has been one of the biggest conspirators against the regional identity of Jammu & Kashmir. Mufti’s ideological opposition to Article 370 is etched in the pages of history and PDP’s attempts to fool the people with such statements are ridiculous attempts to misrepresent history.
Mattu said that it was Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP that was busy using “special contacts” in Delhi to warm up to Narendra Modi. These multiple and frequent meetings are apparently facilitated by a senior journalist and a former Director of Intelligence and are being held to give a tactical shape to the BJP-PDP hidden alliance.
Asking Mehbooba Mufti to make up her mind, Junaid Mattu said that the same Mehbooba Mufti who was waxing eloquent about the need for a “regional character”  in politics today had expressed her interest to speak on behalf of the “Muslims of India” a couple of days ago. Does Mehbooba Mufti want to represent the people of Jammu and Kashmir or is she deluded into aspiring to represent the Muslims of the entire country? Where was Mufti Sayeed’s concern for the Muslims of India when he was hand-in-glove with Jagmohan – who is widely considered to be an anti-Muslim, communal bigot? Why didn’t Mufti Sayeed raise his voice for the Muslims of India when Jagmohan destroyed the properties, shops, homes and lives of hundreds of Indian Muslims at Turkeman Gate?
Mattu said that it was a fact validated by archival record in the Lok Sabha that Mehbooba Mufti as an MP chose to never speak up in the parliament – neither for Kashmiris nor for the Muslims of this country. Her newfound realization about the need to espouse and advocate the cause of Indian Muslims is convenient and hypocritical. Why did she consciously abstain from doing so when she was in the Parliament?
Expressing amusement at Mehbooba Mufti’s dream to “change the rules of the game”, Junaid Mattu said that Mehbooba Mufti should know that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed changed the “rules of the game” in 1990 as the Home Minister of India by unleashing the bloodiest year of repression and injustice on supposedly his own people – just to play a “game” for his own benefit in New Delhi. If that is how PDP changes the “rules of the game”–we could only pray to the Almighty to save this nation from PDP’s “games” for all times to come.
Accusing Mehbooba Mufti of lying brazenly, Mattu said that National Conference and its MPs had forcefully and frequently spoken about the need for justice and reconciliation in Kashmir. Our MPs spoke publicly about our opposition to the death sentence handed out to Afzal Guru and we unconditionally expressed our strong protest over his execution. Before talking of Guru, Mehbooba Mufti should tell us how Muzaffar Baig ran away and ditched Maqbool Bhat even after receiving the retainer-ship and legal fees to defend him in the courts.   (KNS)

  • BJP Fields Three Muslims From Kashmir

SRINAGAR: After roping in the Task Force founder Farooq Khan in Jammu, the BJP on Sunday announced its candidate for the Lok Sabha from Kashmir. They were formally introduced in a press conference at party’s Rajbagh office by Ramesh Arora, party’s state vice president.
Aroda said the party is fielding G M Mir from north Kashmir Baramulla, Mushtaq Noorabadi from south Kashmir Islamabad and Arif Raza from Central Kashmir Srinagar constituency.
The party press release issued in the press conference talks about 11 things, which apparently seem to be state specific. These include Rs 50,000 grant for a female for Nikkah, old age pension to everybody after 60 years, peace and development, “stephens” (it seems it is stipend) to all educated youth, development of all three regions, action against corrupt politicians and “burocrats”, solution to all issues on negotiation table, encouraging tourism, food to every one, electricity and water to every house and an investigation into how central sponsored schemes are being misused by political leaders.

  • Congress will again come back to power: Azad

Urges people to vote for development, secularism
Jammu: Setting aside observations of some political pundits pertaining to Modi wave, the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said that Congress will again come back to power in the form of UPA-III, to serve the people of the country.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Azad was addressing a mammoth gathering here at Katra town-the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi holy shrine, of Doda-Udhampur Parliamentary constituency. In his staunch reply to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other political parties, Azad said that UPA-III led by Congress will form the government in the centre and assured people will vote them on basis of development, secularism and leading the country and countrymen in new era of development in all spheres. He said Congress has always worked for the prosperity of nation, thereby is serving country for the last 129 years.
Azad, who is contesting candidate of Doda-Udhampur seat, castigated BJP and said “every time on the time of elections the party leadership uses different tactics to gain the vote bank on the basis of religion, caste and creed, whereas Congress party has never changed its stand and believes in secularism. He called upon the people to caste vote on the basis of all round development, secularism, and integrity of nation”.
The Congress bright-face while highlighting the heights achieved by the party said, “Congress party is connected with the people at grass roots level, which is evident after the incorporation of 73rd Amendment into Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act 1985”, besides, he said that “a chunk of 13 crore of Indian population has been benefited with employment through MGNREGA, 20, 000 Mega Watts power generation capacity has evolved during UPA-II which is historic and remarkable. Moreover, during the past ten years 51, 000 hospitals across the country were opened. Earlier during five years of Congress government, nation was benefitted with 35, 000 hospitals, isn’t it a development, he questioned and was applauded by the crowd”.
He said people of the country want better education, infrastructure, water supply, health facilities and Congress is committed and has ensured at a larger extent and urged the people to shun the divisive forces, which are hell bent to destabilize the peace and prosperity of the nation for their petty interests.
Azad said before the formation of UPA-I, Atal Bihari Vajpayee started ‘India Shining’ campaign to divert the people attention, despite that people showed their enthusiasm and voted for Congress. Parallel to this, BJP again played gimmicks but people casted their votes for Congress and UPA-II was formed with more vote margin.
While addressing an impressive gathering at Reasi, the Congress stalwart in the backdrop of Article 370 said that the state has its own Constitution, where Modi factor does not works. He said here in Jammu and Kashmir, it is Congress and NC coalition government under the leadership of chief minister Omar Abdullah, which has worked day and night and ensured the overall development of all the three regions of the state.
At his addresses in Arnas and Dharmari, “Azad also recalled the developmental steps taken by the state coalition with the backing of UPA. He highlighted “the state’s total annual budget is about 8000 to 8500 crores but it were the sincere efforts of Congress led UPA-II which provided 20,000 crores just for laying railway lines in Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides, NC-Congress coalition government gave new administrative units keeping in view the problems being faced by the people. “Now, you don’t have to go far off to get you work done. It is at your door steps, be it Tehsils, Sub-Divisions, Blocks, Niabats, Schools, Colleges, University campuses or Hospitals. Who has given it? What more you require? Your most of wishes have been fulfilled much before you demanded,” voiced Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad and urged the people to remain united and counter the nefarious designs of divisive forces by voting in favour of Congress party.
Among others who addressed the party rallies including, Minister for Revenue and Relief, Ejaz Khan, NC vice-president and sitting NC, MLA, Surjeet Singh Slathia, former minister and sitting Congress MLC, Jugal Kisohre Sharma and former NC MLA, Jag Jeevan Lal.
Azad also recalled the moment he had in Reasi, when a veteran BJP leader and former MLA, Rishi Kumar Koushal, who had is following in the entire Jammu Province, shaved his beard after Reasi was given district status in his tenure as a chief minister of the state. The veteran BJP leader was demanding district for Reasi for around thirty years and had promised he will trim his beard after the demand will be full filled. Azad said when the district was given; the veteran leader, who was reluctant to share Congress party’s dias, came to stage to embrace him for his decision.  (KNS)

  • Six-Point Agenda to Resolve Kashmir Crisis: Dr. Fai

San Francisco: Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of “World Kashmir Awareness” has announced a six point agenda to set a stage for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Dr Fai was addressing a well represented seminar entitled “Kashmir: A reminder to the American policy makers,” here at Fremont, California. The event was sponsored by the American Muslim Alliance and Pakistani American Democratic Forum which are headed by a well-known political scientist, Dr. Agha Saeed.
Mike Gravel, former member of the U.S Senate, Mr. Naeem Baig, President of Islamic Circle of North America and Dr. Hatem Bazian –  a prominent Arab American leader spoke on the event.
Dr. Fai while expounding on his 6 points suggested that the conflict over Kashmir  cannot be resolved through military means. Kashmir issue is a political issue and has to be resolved through political means.
    There has to be a cease-fire from all sides during negotiations.  Negotiations cannot be carried out at a time when parties are killing each other. Talks must be tripartite between India, Pakistan and genuine leadership of the people of Kashmir;
There cannot be and should not be any condition from any party, other than commitment to non-violence and to negotiations. Negotiations should be initiated simultaneously at four different levels, including.
An intra-Kashmir dialogue between the leadership of the Kashmiri political resistance, and the leadership of Azad Kashmir, Gilgat Baltistan and the leadership of minority groups in Kashmir.
Talks between the government of India and Pakistan. Talks between the Governments of India, Pakistan and the Kashmiri leadership. Talks between India, Pakistan, Kashmir, China and the United States. There should be third party facilitation to make sure that the talks between India,  Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership remain focused.
“Third party facilitator could be a person of an international standing, like Nobel Laureate, Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa or Dr. Kofi Annan of Ghana or Mr. Kjell Magne Bondevik, former Prime Minister of Norway or Ms. Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner on Human Rights.”
Dr. Fai who was the key-note speaker added that there have been various round of talks between India and Pakistan, including the Summit between Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mian Nawaz Sharif in New York in September 2013. These talks, Fai emphasized, are taking place because there is a deeper engagement of the United States with both New Delhi and Islamabad. There is also a realization that the time has come both countries need to address all the issues including the issue of Kashmir.
Fai further elaborated that the people of Kashmir support the talks between India and Pakistan. Because these talks have opened the doors of understanding and mutual respect between these two neighboring countries. It has also created an atmosphere of reconciliation and normalization. But talks, Fai warned, without any defined parameters and the talks which are not time bond and result oriented are not going to lead us anywhere.  If there is no break through in the thought processes, if there is no change in the mindset, then talks between India and Pakistan even if at the summit level will not guarantee peace in the region of South Asia.
Dr. Fai said that the sentiments of people of Kashmir are for Azadi. He quoted a survey which was conducted by monthly Outlook and was released by UNI on November 5, 2004 and the survey said that 78 per cent of the people of Kashmir want Azadi. Dr. Fai quoted another survey which was conducted by Hindustan Times and CNN-IBN and NDTV on August 12, 2008.  According to this survey, 87% people of Kashmir preferred Azadi for Kashmir. He added that London-based Chattam House had another survey in Kashmir which was released by BBC on May 27, 2010. According to this survey 90 to 95 per cent of the people of the Valley want Azadi. Such a nation where the sentiments of Azadi are on the increase cannot remain subjugated forever, Fai alerted.
Fai concluded by reminding President Obama to listen to Candidate Obama who said on October 30, 2008 that “We should probably try to facilitate a better understanding between Pakistan and India and try to resolve the Kashmir crisis.”
Former Senator Mike Gravel of the United States Senate said, I am an American and I love my country. There are many beautiful things about this country but I am terribly embraced by the miscarriage of justice in the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, Dr. Sami Al-Arian and now Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai. The only way to fix this problem is to fight back and help restore America’s original promise.
Dr. Hatem Bazian said, there is willful attack on Muslim leadership and institutions in the United States and Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai‘s case is a latest example. This simply tells us that Dr. Fai was doing something great for the cause he loves the most and for his people. We appreciate the courage and leadership of our brother Dr. Fai.
Naeem Baig, President of Islamic Circle of North America said the victims should not feel weak. They will have to stand up but it is our responsibility to help them to materialize their dream. I have been witnessing the work of Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai for the last twenty years The way he has projected the cause of Kashmir in this country is exemplary. We are here to work with him to bring peace and justice to the region of Kashmir. (KNS)

While speaking to the people on the occasion ,JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik said that today we are remembering the great sacrifices of our martyrs Shaheed Ishfaq Majeed Wani, Shaheed Syed Shabir Sidiqi and others who were massacred by Indian forces inside Dargah Hazrat Bal .Two days before we remembered another great son of Kashmir Shaheed advocate Jalil Ahmad Indrabi and on 1st April another great Kashmiri doctor Abdul Ahad Guru embraced martyrdom and we are remembering him by arranging many programs. Yasin Malik asked why these great people sacrificed their lives. For what they chose the path of horns and nourished our land with their sacred blood? Did they ask us for any favor? Did they sacrifice their lives for somebody’s assembly or parliamentary seat?
Yasin Malik said that these great souls sacrifice their tomorrow for the betterment of our today. They sacrifice their lives for our freedom. They did not sacrifice their lives for any assembly, parliament or voting. So as a living nation it is our moral, social and sacred duty to safeguard their sacrifices and refrain from all those acts including participating in Indian elections, as these are detrimental to the sacred mission for which these great martyrs laid down their lives for.
While remembering his friend and greater Kashmiri martyr Shaheed I Kashmir Ishfaq Majeed Wani, Yasin Malik said Ishfaq sahib was a great leader who strived for the freedom of our nation and sacrificed his blood to nourish the plant of freedom struggle. He said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a born leader and the days and years of his life from 5th September 1966 to 30th march 1990 are a shining evidence of his greatness. He said that Ashfaq Majeed Wani was a humble slave of Allah almighty who whenever took a step took that in the way of truth and justice. He was a symbol of Courage, Fearlessness, religiousness, passion, and resistance against the False and injustice. Torture cells, jails and other ways and means of oppression could never deter him from his way and he stood firm in the way of freedom movement till the hour of his martyrdom, said Yasin Malik. He said that it was Ashfaq Majeed Wani’s gallant leadership in 1988 that gave courage to hundreds of young men to stand up for the cause of freedom and independence of mother land. Ashfaq Majid Wani led a people’s revolution in 1990 and changed the 5000 year old f history of Kashmir. It was his leadership that united a nation which was tagged as coward and inactive for the just cause of freedom and history bears a witness that thousands of young people followed Ashfaq Majeed Wani in this struggle. Ashfaq Majeed always gave Priority to others but when it came to sacrifices, Ashfaq Majeed led from the front and sacrificed his life for the cause of freedom. Bravery, courage and truthfulness were blended in his blood and cold weathers or hot seasons always failed to stop his march to the desired goals. He said that Ashfaq Majeed was a Practicing follower of Quran, a brave commander, a wise political leader, a refined diplomat, a fiery speaker, a respected student and a great athlete. Above all he was an inspiring personality who had courage to call a spade a spade and look into the eyes of tyrant and tyranny and fight against it with firmness .Yasin Malik said that truly he was a True picture of great Predecessors and true follower of father of nation Mohammad Maqbool Butt shaheed .
While paying tributes to martyr Shabir Ahmad Sidiqi and other martyrs of Dargah Hazrat Bal, Yasin Malik said that Shaheed Sidiqi sahib was a religious scholar and a man of wisdom who strived and sacrificed his life for the freedom of Kashmir. Sidiqi sahib will also be remembered for his philanthropy and work in the field of education. His sacrifices will always shine as will the sacrifices of doctor Abdul Ahad Guru, advocate Jalil Indrabi and Lakhs of our great martyrs who strived in the way of freedom and sacrificed their lives for the cause.
Yasin Malik said that a nation that has lost its doctors, engineers ,scholars, intellectuals, teachers, imams, priests, pilots, brave men and women, lawyers,  and people from every walk of life while perusing a just cause, a nation whose thousands were killed by forces in custody, whose thousands stand absconding in custody, the chastity of whose mothers and sisters was attacked and markets and localities ruined ,and where army, forces, police and agencies are given a free license to kill without any fear of being penalized of brought to justice of which a glaring example has been set today by the rulers through shelving the probe into civilian killings of 2010 ,cannot and should not do anything that will harm the sacred mission of the martyrs.
Yasin said that voting’s either for Indian parliament, or assemblies or Panchayats, municipalities and Niyabats etc means a betrayal to the martyrs and the sacred cause for which they laid down their lives and no honorable kashmiri can afford to do so. Yasin Malik appealed to the people to remember the sacrifices and refrain from any kind of participation in Indian elections. At the end of the program, enthusiastic youth took out a rally and raised slogans in favor of Azadi and martyrs.

  • Mufti Assures honourable return of KPs to their native places

Cong equally responsible for trust deficit between people of J&K and rest of the country
JAMMU: Emphasizing on the need of formulating a long term policy to solve all problems of Jammu and Kashmir, patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that Congress is equally responsible for prevailing trust-deficit between people of the State and rest of the country.
“Like National Conference, leadership of Congress is also equally responsible for prevailing anarchy, chaos and sense of uncertainty in State”, Mufti said while addressing a public meeting at Khanpur area of Nagrota Assembly segment in support of party candidate Yash Pal Sharma.
Mufti reminded the gathering that it is a historical fact whenever Congress has entered into alliance with National Conference, the State of Jammu and Kashmir plunged into unprecedented crisis and their alliance always proved ominous for the people of this region. “It is coincidence that whenever both these parties shared power, alienation of people increased and faith of the masses in the system badly shattered”, he observed and added that like their previous experiments for enjoying power, the present NC-Congress coalition has also proved disastrous for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as during the last five and half years alienation of people has been increasing with every passing day and credibility of the government has reached to its lowest ebb.
“Coalition has been exposed due to its misdeed, mis-governance and mal-administration so people are looking towards PDP to get them rid from the present anarchist dispensation”, Mufti said and observed that change is imminent in Jammu and Kashmir and the coming Lok Sabha elections is a step forward towards change.
“PDP led coalition regime had laid a foundation of mutual trust and confidence among inhabitants of different regions of the State”, he said and challenged his opponent to come out with any evidence of discrimination with any regions or sub-regions during PDP led regime.
PDP patron said that his party would remove the walls of hatred among different regions of the State and would also remove the trust deficit between people of Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country. “Through our convictions and programmes, we would remove this trust deficit”; he asserted and added that it was aim of the PDP to remove these misconceptions.
Observing that PDP is the real voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he said that regional parties were emerging all over the country and PDP is the only region party of J&K which enjoys faith and confidence of all sections of the society.
He said that PDP had played historic role in restoring peoples’ faith in the democratic institutions of the country.
