Property row: Geelani to reply Jama’at letter
Srinagar: After Jama’at-e-Islami sent a formal letter to its de-facto basic member (Rukun) and Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Syed Ali Geelani last week while Geelani was still in Delhi for medical checkup asking him to clear his stand on Hyderpora property issue, sources in the Geelani led Hurriyat informed Kashmir Life that a formal reply is ready and shall be dispatched to Jama’t Wednesday evening or early Thursday.Pertinently, in a first, Geelani had last month announced transferring his Hyderpora residence and office building to an 8 member trust (Milli Trust headed by him) which was severely ridiculed by his parent organization Jama’at-e-Islami claiming that the property belonged to Jama’at not Geelani.Sources in the Jama’at said that a letter was sent to its former acting Ameer (President) last week asking him to clear his position on the said property. “JeI after properly scanning its credentials and taking its shoora (advisory council) on board has sent a letter to Syed Geelani. We have asked for a meeting over the issue,” a JeI insider told Kashmir Life. However, Hurriyat (G) sources said that their reply to the letter from JeI shall resolve the issue in one go. “We have prepared our answer to the letter and we shall be dispatching it only this evening or next morning,” a close aide of Geelani told Kashmir Life. When Hurriyat patriarch announced his decision to transfer the property to the trust, just after some days he flew to Delhi.JeI in its statement termed Geelani’s decision “historically wrong” claiming the property belonged to Jama’at not Geelani.Geelani on the other hand claimed that he bought the Hyderpora property from one a lady who belonged to Budgam district on Augut 8, 1995.Geelani after a formal agreement, with his parent organization Jama’at-e-Islami, flouted his own political party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat on August 07, 2004. After hectic deliberations, Geelani was allowed to take human as well as non human resource from JeI. -
Large Crowds In Iran Mark 35th Anniversary Of Islamic Revolution
Hundreds of thousands of Iranians have gathered in Tehran to mark the 35th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution that toppled the pro-U.S. shah and brought Islamists to power.
State-run media said millions of people attended similar rallies elsewhere across Iran on February 11.
Many in the crowd in Tehran’s Azadi Square chanted, “Down with the U.S.” and, “Death to Israel,” ahead of a speech by President Hassan Rohani.
In his address, Rohani vowed Iran would continue with what he called peaceful nuclear development and warned outside powers against military action over the Islamic republic’s nuclear program.
“Any threat made against the Iranian nation is unworthy and childish,” Rohani said.
Despite Iran’s recent diplomatic outreach to the West, both the United States and its ally Israel have refused to rule out possible military action over the nuclear issue.
Rohani, a relative moderate in comparison to his more hard-line predecessor Mahmud Ahmadinejead, made a point of reaching out to the West after he took office in August after a landslide election victory.
His initiative saw quick results, with Iran and world powers reaching a landmark nuclear deal in November.
Under the deal, Tehran has agreed to curb uranium enrichment and other nuclear activities in return for the partial easing of international sanctions.
Years of such sanctions have restricted Iranian crude exports and dealt a crippling blow to the economy. Analysts say easing such measures was a key driver of Rohani’s initiative.
Rohani addressed the sanctions issue in his anniversary speech, denouncing them as “cruel” for their effect on ordinary Iranians.
“The sanctions against our nation are cruel, unlawful, and wrong,” Rohani said. “The world cannot continue these sanctions against our nation.”
Rohani also called the nuclear negotiations a “historic test” and pledged Iran would be a reliable partner if the West demonstrates respect and cooperation.
“The nuclear negotiations are a historic test for Europe and the United States,” Rohani said. “In these negotiations, if they act within the framework of the law, in the framework of the Iranian nation’s rights, in the framework of mutual benefits, mutual respect, and cooperation, they would hear a positive and appropriate response from Iran and the great Iranian nation.”
Talks between Iran and the world powers are due to resume next week on a longer-term pact aimed at resolving the decade-long standoff over allegations Iran has been trying to develop an atomic weapon.
Iran denies any military element to its nuclear program, instead saying it needs atomic power for energy production and other civilian uses.
In his speech, Rohani also reached out to Iranian young people and pledged that his government was taking action to reduce Iran’s massive inflation.
“During the past six months, we brought down a 43 percent inflation rate to 35 percent,” Rohani said. “God willing, the government will reduce the inflation rate to 25 percent next year.”
The United States and Iran have not had diplomatic relations since 1980, after Washington severed ties in the wake of the 1979 revolution. During that upheaval, the American Embassy in Tehran was seized and U.S.-backed Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was toppled.
However, high-level diplomats from the two countries have met repeatedly in recent months as Iran and the world powers pursued a breakthrough on the nuclear issue. -

Strike on 9 to 11 shows peoples commitment to freedom struggle: Mirwaiz
Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNS): Stressing that Kashmiris by observing complete shutdown on the martyrdom anniversaries of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru have shown their strong resolve and commitment to the great mission of martyrs and freedom struggle, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that people have once again proved that liberation struggle was sacred and was above everything. He further said that Kashmiris have also proved that they can’t overlook their cherished freedom struggle just for the sake of some petty economic or some individual benefits.According to a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz said that authorities left no stone unturned to prevent people from observing the commemoration of the two martyrs. He said just for demanding the mortals of two martyrs and paying homage to them, authorities resorted to all the tyrannical measures by arresting and house arresting hurriyat leaders, activists, workers, arresting youths, and imposing undeclared curfews across villages and towns in entire Kashmir since past three days.Mirwaiz said such suppressive tactics openly display the anti-people policy pursued by the state against Kashmiris, adding, it also deflated their claims that Kashmir was peaceful.Mirwaiz said force and terror, economic grants and personal benefits, would in no way crush the spirit of freedom among the Kashmiri people, neither can it buy their loyalty. He said that three day shut down to remember martyrs should once again serve an eye opener for the world community and Indian leadership that Kashmir issue can’t be solved by unleashing terror and force or by economic grants. He said Kashmir issue can only be solved through political means in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of people.Meanwhile, hurriyat spokesman has sternly condemned the arrest of senior leaders including Mukhtar Ahamd Waza, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Javed Ahmad Mir, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Hilal Ahmad War, Mushtaq Ahamd Sofi, adding, the conglomerate also condemnes the house arrest and arrests of hurriyat activists, workers and raids on their houses. PDP disrupts proceedings of both Houses Demands more new administrative units
Jammu: Legislators Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today disrupted both houses to demand more new administrative units in the areas which have been neglected in the recently announced new administrative units.
According to a statement issued to KNS, as the House assembled this morning for proceeding, PDP legislators under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti resorted to shouting slogans against discriminatory distribution of administrative units. They alleged that many deserving areas have been ignored in allotting new administrative units.Speaking on the floor of the House, Ms Mehbooba Mufti said that during PDP-Congress a Committee headed by S S Beloria was constituted to identify deserving areas for the allotment of new administrative. “As recommendations of that Committee were incomplete, another Committee headed by Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai was constituted”, she pointed out and recalled that Mushtaq Ahmed Ganai Committee had submitted its report in the year 2011 but that report was never tabled in the House for discussion. “A number of times assurances were given that report would be tabled in the House but no action was taken. Instead of tabling the Ganai Report for the last 3 years, the Government abruptly made announcements in a hurried manner”, she observed and a number of deserving areas were ignored by this Committee.Today people in every nook and corner of the State have been agitating as they feel discriminated, many deserving areas being left out, she said and narrated a number of examples where deserving areas were ignored. “At the fag-end of its tenure this regime has created chaos in the state by pitching one area against the other”, she said.PDP president handed over a list of areas, which deserve administrative units, to the Speaker and pressed for granting the status of Sub Division, CD Blocks, Tehsils and Niabats to the deserving areas. She demanded a time frame assurance from the Government but there was no response from Treasury benches. As Government failed to give any assurance on the list provided to the Speaker, PDP legislators again resorted to shouting slogans.Following direction of the Speaker to forcibly take PDP legislators out of the House, party MLA from Tral, Mustaq Ahmed Shah received severe injuries when he was dragged by the watch and ward staff of the Assembly.PDP members also vociferously take up this issue in the Legislative Council also. Party members staged a walkout from the Upper House as mark of protest as govt has not adopted a uniform approach while announcing administrative units.Later talking to the media persons outside the Assembly, Ms Mehbooba Mufti regretted that entire opposition was protesting in the House and people all over the State were agitating but Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was busy on tweeting. “This is contempt of the House. Instead of facing the House, the Chief Minister is tweeting on this crucial issue”, she said.Ms Mufti said that braving severe cold, people all over the State have protesting against discrimination in distribution of administrative units but government has failed to give any assurance on this issue. She said that in Legislative Assembly PDP has submitted a list to the Speaker while as in Legislative Council list has been submitted to the Chairman.Joining the issue with Chief Minister, she said that if Chief Minister thinks that by announcing 759 administrative units alongwith 2000 Patwar halqas with issuance of Cabinet decision, he can hide mis-deeds and mis-governance of his five and half year tenure he should announce 700 more administrative units to get more political mileage. She pointed out that Ganai Committee had recommended 222 administrative units so what is wrong if 700 or more units would be announced to give so that people agitating since the announcement of New Administrative Units, would give them an honourable way-out.She said that Omar Abdullah government has miserable failed to fulfil its promises so the government has brazenly been indulged into such deceitful tactics to befool the people. “In its five and half year tenure this government has nothing to show so this regime has been trying to divert attention of people towards its failure by politicizing the issue of administrative units”, she maintained and asserted that PDP would continue their struggle to get justice for the deserving areas. Inaction against accused Congress politician Medical fraternity mulling to shutting hospitals
Srinagar: The amalgam of associations of doctors and paramedics Tuesday expressed their resentment against callous approach of the government in arresting the culprit Shabir Khan allegedly involved in molestation case. The amalgam in a statement to CNS said that it is a mockery of system that after having so much of outrage on this grave issue a guarded minister goes into hiding and till now hasn’t been arrested. “We feel that the system is applying different yardsticks when it comes to deal with a high profile culprit and a common citizen,” the statement reads.
The amalgam namely Field Doctors Welfare Association Kashmir, Society of Consultant Doctors, , Health and Family Welfare Employees Confederation, JK Dental Surgeons Society, JK State Contractual Doctors Association, NRHM Doctors Association, Doctors and Patient Welfare Association
has devised an agitation strategy which will be implemented from Wednesday onwards with the onset of wearing black bands and finally will lead to shutting of offices, hospitals including casualties if Government fails to deliver already delayed justice.
The amalgam has appealed to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to put the culprit behind the bars immediately as it seems that the system has been lax in enforcing the verdict as too much of time has elapsed till now.
“This time delaying tactics is just acting as a catalyst to our already deep rooted wounds and in turn is widening the trust deficit between the system of delivering justice and the turmoil torn valley. Delaying of bringing the accused to where he should be is paining us and our sister female colleagues in particular to the highest ebb. They feel if the step taken by the brave lady doesn’t bring the culprit to be punished now then it is nothing but an act of demoralizing the herculean efforts of the victim and her state of mind in person. Non deliverance or absence of speedy justice in cases like these will stop other brave hearts to come infront to raise their voice against these gory acts.”
The amalgam warned the government that if such incidents are not being delivered in judicious way then it will have an irreparable loss to the institute of society and women in particular. (CNS) -
Kashmir Struggle: Lack of Leadership,Ideology and Sincerity
“If he is an infidel, he trusts the sword, If he is a Momin , a soldier fights sans sword”
“Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru”: Two Wings of Kashmir’s Islamic Resistance.Waseem RazaThe sacrifices of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru are indelible chapters of our History in Kashmir. Both Great Martyrs of Nation kissed gallows without budging before the tyrants. As Alama Iqbal Said ” If he is an infidel, he trusts the sword, If he is a Momin , a soldier fights sans sword”. Both Sacrificed for the Sake of Islam, Nation, Liberation and Humanity but unfortunately we have been deviating from the main cause time and again . We tagged Kashmir Movement with India and Pakistan. Kashmir Nation having an Islamic History, We forgot that we are having Independent History. I think Kashmir is a leaderless nation and every time at the peak point of our movement we purchase, surrender or deviated our Movement from its main Direction. We have lost Lacs of Youths and thousand were disappeared and gave immense sacrificed for “Right to self Determination” or “Indian and Pakistan Ties “.Our leaders always tag Kashmir`s Current Struggle with 1931 Movement but as far as the 1931 is concerned it was totally Religious, Social and Political and at that time people represented Islamic Spirit against Oppression, At that time the Movement against “Dogra Rule” No Resolution was passed on Kashmir in United Nation. The Movement had it history from 1931 where people gave the sacrifice in the name of Islam under the banner of Muslim Conference headed by Mirwaiz Moulana Mohammad Yusuf Shah. According to history India was under British rule upto 1947 and After Getting Independence Pakistan was Created on the Name of Islam but unfortunately after the death of Qaid Azam Ali Mohammad Jinnah, Pakistan failed to Protect the Sacrifices and Slogan of Its Creation. Now a Days Resistance leader being called as “Separatists’” because there is lack of Intellectual Input in our Movement and that`s why Kashmir Struggle is weak .Our Slogan is Kashmir first and kashmiris first but all the time we look through prism of India and Pakistan, Geographical situation changed the minds of leaders time to time. I want to Say those who saying Kashmir is only Political issue and it needs political situation? Why we using our religious platforms for promoting such time of politics which has nothing to do with Our Belief. We coming out on Streets only due to our Religious Spirit and Our leaders deviating from its main direction.2008,2010 were the best examples to understand what really our Power and Spirit is?Gun is not the Solution because it was proved that gun in Kashmir played a negative role and So Called Jehadist killed thousands of innocent on the Name of Islam. It was an Conspiracy against Kashmir`s Movement to defame at many levels and that`s why Pandiths were asked to leave Valley but at that time Leadership did`nt played a positive role to protect our Movement and Expose Conspirares against Kashmiris. May Allah Forgive us ,Without Pandith, Sikhs and Buddhas Our Movement is Incomplete. Hurriyat Conference claiming the real representatives of Kashmir and On the Other side Pro Indian Parties claiming the same but both just using words to keep themselves happy and comfortable in their Dream of the Days. Both Ideologies are under control of India and Pakistan and never represented the true sentiments of Kashmir. Islam is the religion of peace, tolerance, equality and treats human being with high dignity and honor. In Quran we read Allah address human being as “O People”, “O you men”, “O children of Adam” or sometime address as “O people! Be care full of your duty to your lord, who created you from a single being and created its mate of the same kind and spread from these two, many men and women” .Islam teaches us to treat mankind as gift of Allah and Human beings as descendents of Allah, Islam recognizes only one quality of human beings that is to be careful of their duties to their lord. Islam not only respects the life of a human being but life of an animal and bird is also precious and killing of an animal as a game, joy or entertainment has been forbidden by Islam, and has mentioned place of such person in hell. About killing a believer has said:And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will sent his wrath on him and curse him and prepares for him a painful chastisement”.“And do not kill anyone whom Allah has forbidden except for a just cause, and whoever is slain unjustly, we have indeed given to his heir authority, so let not exceed the just limits in slaying, surely he is aided.”We Can judge better what we lack in our movement? The need of the hour is to follow truth, Sincerity and except our errors, so that we can find w way how to get success.May Allah Show all of us right path and give us strength to follow truth for the betterment of Islam, Nation, Unity and Humanity.(Waseem Raza is the Editor of International News Agency “Newsnoor” www.newsnoor.com and can be reached at[email protected]
