To keep youth continuously under detention even after humiliating defeat worst kind of political vengeance: HCJK

Srinagar: The spokesperson of Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) has expressed wonder over the fact that government is not anticipating the public power even after the humiliating defeat. He said this is the reason they resort to political vengeance by continuing to keep their political opponents behind bars. Criticizing the government for not releasing the Hurriyat leaders and activists arrested during the so-called parliamentary elections, he said that by such attempts, the government cannot break the resolve of pro-freedom leaders and the freedom movement. “The more government uses force on them, the more their pro-freedom spirit will enhance and more the freedom movement gains momentum. They have been using attempts to crush the freedom movement since 1947 but the movement only gained momentum with the passage of time,” he said.

According to a statement issued to KNS, while terming the continuous detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq ul Islam, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and others as unlawful and inhuman, the Hurriyat spokesperson also severely condemned the continuous house arrest of octogenarian Hurriyat leader Jenab Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

The spokesperson said that if by killing and arresting the pro-Hurriyat people and by committing grave human rights violations, they think can suppress the freedom spirit of the people of Kashmir, they could have done so by the support of more than 7 lac forces who produced more than 500 graveyards of martyrs in which more than 15 lac martyrs have been buried. “The government should read the writing on the wall and keep in mind that until the people of Kashmir get their birth right of self determination, they will continue their struggle for freedom,” the spokesperson added.
