Condemns use of force against peaceful public protests
Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Molvi Mohammad Umar Farooq, who was put under house arrest at the crack of dawn on Tuesday, has sternly condemned the use of force to suppress the peaceful public protests called against the cold blooded murder of Arshad Ahmad Shah by the government forces in Sopore.
According to a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz stated that unbridled powers vested with the forces are allowing them to murder Kashmiris at will, adding, that these killings would not stop unless all draconian laws including AFSPA are not repealed and the Indian armed forces are not made accountable for their actions as well as the guilty are not severely punished.
Huriyat (M) Chairman has also expressed his profound grief over the demise of senior leader of the movement, and a close associate of the Mirwaiz family, Haji Abdul Gaffar in Rawalpindi Pakistan. Gaffar who originally hailed from Wazpora Mahrajgunj had migrated to Pakistan along with the Majajre-e-Millat Moulvi Yousuf Shah. From Pakistan, Gaffar worked day and night for the freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir. He also remained closely associated with Muslim Conference at senior positions. Paying rich tributes to Gaffar, Mirwaiz expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for the deceased
Meanwhile ,Hurriyat spokesman has thanked the people for observing strike against the killing at spore and strongly condemned the house arrest of Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Moulana Abbas Ansari, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, Mr. Zaffar Akbar Bhat and arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza at Sher Bagh police station Islamabad.
