Geelani paid tributes to slain militant of Sopore, condemned Shah’s killing

‘Omar’s period worst in J&K’s history’

Srinagar: While paying glorious tributes to the slain militant who was martyred in Krankshuvan Colony, Sopore gunfight, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani said that due to the rigidity of Indian rulers, the loss of precious human lives is continuously going on in the Kashmir.

According to a statement issued to KNS, he said that the entire Kashmir has become the mourning place where human lives are sacrificed just for the ‘ego of the Indian rulers’.  The pro-freedom leader said that the youth of our nation are spilling their hot blood for the sacred cause and they are sacrificing their school and college life for the future of their nation. “It is now our responsibility to protect these sacrifices and not indulge in such activities which will harm their sacred cause.”

While strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing by the forces on the protesters, killing of an innocent youth Arshid Ahmad of Sopore, crackdown on the pro-freedom leadership and imposition of curfew like situation in the Sopore, the Hurriyat chairman termed the government action as the ‘worst kind of state terrorism and lawlessness’.

Geelani said that it is the shameful act on the part of the state administration that on the one hand they are killing our innocent children and on the other hand we are not allowed to mourn on their dead bodies. “It has now become the routine of the government to kill our loved ones and then restrict us from mourning their deaths. It is the worst kind of human rights violations which the human history has seen so far.”

While terming the arrest of Hurriyat leaders and imposition of curfew in Sopore as grave human rights violations, Geelani said that dozens of Hurriyat leaders and activists including the Tehreek-i-Hurriyat General Secretary Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar, Personal secretary to chairman Peer Saifullah and Secretary Public Relations Mohammad Altaf sahib have been either detained or put under house arrest. The people are not allowed to mourn the death of their loved ones by imposing the restrictions in the name of so called law and order.

The pro-freedom leader said that the Omer Abdullah led government has surpassed all the previous records of ‘atrocities and cruelties’ and his period has proven as worst period of the history of Kashmir. The pro-Indian politicians have mortgaged the entire Jammu and Kashmir with the New Delhi merely for their chair. Geelani said that the present attitude of the government is only increasing the political uncertainty and instability of the state.
