SRINAGAR, MAR 18: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday criticising army.

While addressing the rally in Budgam, Omar said that Mehbooba’s crocodile tears will not work this time as the state has witnessed her atrocities when she was at the helm of affairs.

In 2017, Major Leetul Gogoi tied up a person, to an army jeep and paraded him around ten villages and used him as a shield against the stone pelters in Kashmir. The National Conference leader lashed out at Mehbooba for the way she is reacting to the incident now after a year has passed.

  • PDP workers are ‘real mujahideen’, says Mehbooba!

Srinagar, March 17: PDP chief and former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti Sunday extolled her party workers as “real mujahideen.”
Addressing a large gathering in Kupwara district, Mehbooba said even though a PDP worker “may not have a gun or stone in his hands, you are the real mujahid.”

“Your contribution to the society is far greater than the contribution of workers of other parties that have been around for decades,” she said.

Mehbooba said every Kahsmiri should feel proud of PDP as every single worker of the party is an ” asli mujahid.”

She said the PDP was only the party which gave “relief to Kashmiris from POTA, task force, and set up universities and colleges.”

The party also realised the “dream of opening Muzaffarabad- Srinagar route,” she said.

She said the PDP believed in acting as “a bridge between Pakistan and Kashmir so that every Kashmiri will have excess to anywhere he wants to go whether it is Afghanistan or Iran.”

She said her father Mufti Saeed’s tenure as chief minister was a “success due to opening of traditional routes linking Kashmir to rest of the world.” (GNS)

  • ‘Will show patience’ on Masood Azhar issue with China: India

NEW DELHI:- India continues to work with the UN Security Council sanctions committee on the listing of Masood Azhar as a global terrorist and will show patience on the issue, official sources said Saturday, days after China blocked a proposal at the world body to ban the JeM chief.

They also said steps taken by Pakistan in the last few days, against terror groups are cosmetic in nature.

“India continues to work with the UNSC’s sanction committee on listing of JeM chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist,” official sources said.

India believes “terrorism is a major issue for China. They know a number of terror groups are based in Pakistan”, sources added.

On China blocking Azhar’s listing as a global terrorist, sources said India will show patience as long as it takes.

On Beijing continuing to oppose Azhar’s listing as global terrorist, government sources said there are issues which China needs to resolve with Pakistan.

On Wednesday, China for the fourth time blocked the bid in the UN Security Council to designate the chief of the Pakistan-based terror group as a “global terrorist” by putting a technical hold on the proposal. The Chinese move was termed “disappointing” by India.

  • Indian Army Chief Again Warns Pakistan

LUCKNOW — Army chief General Bipin Rawat, on Saturday said Indian authorities would not shy away from resorting to strong military action if Pakistan “failed to stop pushing (militants) into India.”

General Rawat, who was in the state capital at the concluding ceremony of Medex-2019 the field medical exercises of ASEAN and ASEAN Plus countries— said terrorism on Indian soil would not be tolerated. He was speaking at the convention.

“We are also followers of peace and harmony but cannot tolerate any attempt to disturb our integrity.”

Claiming that Indian Army was fully prepared to take action against Pakistan if they meddled with the peace of India, the Army chief said the army was ready with the plan to take action against camps “still active in Pakistan.”

“In future also such strikes will continue. If atmosphere will be vitiated, we will act again,” he said adding that if needed, the army would take action in consonance of political decision irrespective of the ongoing elections.

“Elections do not impact Army’s action,” he stated. The army chief elaborated by saying that plan to target “Lashkar” camps was also ready and that the Indian army was capable of facing any challenge in the aftermath of airstrikes.

  • Will target terrorists at ‘point of origin’: Arun Jaitley

New, Delhi, March 16: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the Government “has evolved a new security doctrine in which terrorists in Pakistan will be targeted at their point of origin”.

Speaking at India TV Conclave here, Jaitley said: “Till now, Pakistan had been pushing in terrorists from across the Line of Control (LoC) to carry out killings, but now Prime Minister Modi has evolved a new security doctrine. In this, we have decided to target terrorists at their points of origin.”

He said that through a series of measures, India has made it clear that “if you indulge in terrorism, the cost will be so high that you will find it unaffordable”.

“We crossed the LoC and International Border twice. Not a single country in the world criticised us… After the Balakot air strike, China did not question why Indian jets entered the air space, it only called for restraint. Through international diplomacy, we must isolate Pakistan, whether in the Security Council or at the IMF where it has gone to seek funds for the 13th time,” Jaitley said.

In response to a query, Jaitley said he does not agree with the campaign being carried out in social media by certain groups calling for a ban on consumption of Chinese products in India.

“It is a strategic subject. The strategy is not guided by emotions. Whenever the government takes action, it is done at the opportune time, and it is always a graded type of action,” he said.

Jaitley said, Pakistan’s counter-strike in reply to Balakot, on February 27 at the LoC “was a botched up operation”.

“Our Air Force knew that they would strike, and had effectively created a wall of aircraft. Their planes turned back, and we shot down their F-16. And even after that our brave pilot went after them to shoot down one more plane. Our Army and Air Force showed their capability,” he said. (Agencies)
